What sacrifices have been made to XC during Covid-19?

Simple question - since most XC services at the moment seem to be 8 or 9 car formations, what had been sacrificed to make that happen?

I would work this out by using RTT, but it's difficult to see what's changed given the amount of variance in XC destinations as it was.

The Exeter/Bristol to Manchester isn't running and nor is the South Coast to Newcastle.

So SW-NW and SE-NE aren't running so things can be strengthened SW-NE and SE-NW.

Initially doubles only ran weekdays which made a little sense: since lockdown eased, these have now been extended to weekend diagrams too. Central Rivers depot must have looked almost like Christmas Day on weekends prior to last month!

And a far better experience travelling XC has been.

The hourly Birmingham-Leicester stopping service and the hourly Birmingham to Stansted Airport service have been altered to Birmingham to Leicester hourly stopping service (in the same path as Birmigham to Stansted service) with extensions to Cambridge every two hours. There are a few peak hour weekday extras and there are no single 2 car workings, services either 3 car or 2 2-cars coupled up. I've only seen one service a 2 car Class 170 but this was about 2100 hrs.

Just a gentle reminder that if anyone wishes to post suggestions, ideas or any other speculation, to please post these in the Speculative Ideas section.

I have moved some posts accordingly. Thanks
