Let me start off by saying I am not overly familiar with your area so others may be more specific.

Real Time Trains would be a good place to start. You mention the Milton Keynes line but that covers a wide area but if you put Milton Keynes in the Location box and in the What Time box put 0000-2359 and Services box choose Freight Services that will make your list more manageable and look for trains from and to Willesden these are the mail trains but not all paths are used.

Alternatively Freightmaster lists all the operational paths at various locations in the UK. The Rugby table lists the mail trains that would go along the Milton Keynes line but with not knowing where specifically you would want to watch them there may be a better table than Rugby. This is however a site you have to pay for but you do also get all the freight, mail, and loco hauled passenger trains that are scheduled to run throughout the UK. Anyone using it will tell you it is very accurate and updated immediately as changes happen.

How are the 325's timetabled to get back from Shieldmuir and Warrington to Willesden? I was having a quick look on RTT after reading this post and could find Northbound workings but no Southbound ones.

There's a northbound to Shieldmuir (that stops at Warrington on the way), and a southbound from Warrington. These are the links I posted previously.

There are also a number of workings between Warrington and Shieldmuir, and these units will cycle through a trip to/from Willesden regularly.

Excuse the late response but thanks to everyone for the responses, I have noticed the last couple of working I found have been cancelled. Currently working a night schedule so may be in luck next week to see it.

I have never not seen the 1715 ish service through mkc. Come hell or high water the mail always gets through!

The train does not run at weekends or on bank holidays

I always enjoy phoning the BTP - much to their bemusement - whenever I stick one in a loop out of the way somewhere when some overnight disaster befalls the northern WCML...

Do they have to go and babysit it then?

Thanks to your help I got round to seeing the train tonight. The 19:25 Warrington to Willesden passed by at 21:47, we’ll chuffed with that.
