Where DDM carriages from the NS go to die

After an enjoyable career on the UK railway, I relocated to The Netherlands where I now drive a truck around Holland and Belgium to earn a crust. At the parking area in Ijmuiden where we swap trailers, there is a railway yard next door where some DDM carriages have now taken up residence. The unusual thing is these carriages have been craned straight onto the tarmac, and will probably sit there for quite some time until eventual disposal. I would really have liked to see the craning process to put them where they are. Can one crane lift a whole carriage?

Anyway, I took some photos for anyone that us interested. There are a couple of train cabs on the far side of the yard if anyone wants an unusual garden shed. Collection only I guess.NS 1.JPGNS 2.JPGNS 3.JPGNS 4.JPGNS 5.JPGNS 6.JPGNS 7.JPGNS 8.JPG

Nice photos! Some look very artistic. I didn't know that they were also stored in IJmuiden, I've read somewhere that they were at a disposal company in the Westhaven of Amsterdam, but I should say I don't really follow it in detail.

Actually, looking at Google Maps, I may have the location wrong. The trailer park and rail yard is in Amerikahaven near Westpoort, so not quite Ijmuiden. My apologies.

Are these the same carriages that were stored long term on a stabling line a few kilometres outside Amsterdam Centraal do you think? Or are they still there? Haven't been into Amsterdam for a long time

That sounds more logical as there are no tracks to IJmuiden anymore ;). The Amerikahaven is part of the Westpoort, it includes the whole of the port of Amsterdam.

Now you mention it, I remember having read something about that the stabling line was full and that some carriages were moved to another place in the port, but I don't follow all news around these carriages, so might have misremembered. I expect @DanielB to know more.

No, unfortunately what I know is exactly the same as you're already mentioning: that the DDM carriages were being "stored" somewhere in the Amsterdam port.

Yes they are at least partially the same carriages. The Dijksgracht, just east of Amsterdam Centraal, is now completely empty. (The TEE trainset which was also hanging around there is now stored at the Watergraafsmeer yard).
The carriages standing around in the port are awaiting to be scrapped, though the latest I could find in Dutch sources is that some were taken for scrapping in January 2020 and the remainder would have to wait until a new contract with a demolition company was in place. The contract appears to have been awarded, but for some reason not yet been used.

I guess they'll need to hurry to make some space, as SGMm will also go out of service completely this year and would need to be stored somewhere then.
