There's so much talk about companies going bust amidst the Covid-19 crisis, leaving thousands of people without jobs and crippling the economy, but what about the companies that might be able to get through this crisis no problem?

Obviously the big supermarkets (Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys etc) will be fine with sales soaring due to panic buying. Many takeaway/fast food outlets that offer a home delivery service should also have no problem with increased demand for eating from home. Home entertainment (Netflix, Now TV etc) will be another winner from this, as will many retailers with a large online presence, most notably Amazon, as people flock to have goods vital for self-isolation (laptops, fridge freezers etc) delivered to their homes. I'm sure there are a lot more to add to this.

Probably premium brands will be fine. I would have thought that any company which provides cleaning supplies or services will survive too. I can't imagine us seeing the end of Unilever or P&G at this point!

Any global brand betting company... With no sports to bet on, gamblers will lose their shirts betting at online casinos to get their fix.

Tesco, Unilever, Essity and MindGeek.

Well, Essity will be fine as long as the home-schooled teenage boys keep MindGeek going, anyway

An update from McDonald’s UK and Ireland – See you soon
I am incredibly grateful to our brilliant employees who have been working hard to continue to serve you safely in difficult circumstances.

Over the last 24 hours, it has become clear that maintaining safe social distancing whilst operating busy takeaway and Drive Thru restaurants is increasingly difficult and therefore we have taken the decision to close every restaurant in the UK and Ireland by 7pm on Monday 23rd March.

We have not taken this decision lightly and know that our restaurants have been playing an important role in the community providing hundreds of thousands of free drinks to frontline health and social workers and emergency services personnel.

But I have been clear throughout this that we would only continue to operate whilst it was safe for our people and together with our franchisees, we feel now is the time to make this decision to temporarily close.

Wow, that is big news, went to one yesterday which wasn't too busy as such (about 5 orders on the screen when we collected) although KFC next to it had a massive queue of cars, some idiotic chavs making coughing noises out of their cars...

Latex glove manufacturers, and wet wipe producers that have cannily been buying up toilet rolls in bulk.

Wouldn't have thought that the bog roll companies would make any more - some people are buying loads now, but that just means they won't buy any for months (years) afterwards. There'll probably be special offers on bog roll by August.

Although saying that, the producers of domestic size rolls (rather than the commercial grade type) will probably sell more as people will spend more time at home than at work.

Companies providing ancillary services for the NHS are on a sound footing. I work for such a company serving a large hospital and we are really ramping up. I am in the catering side but we also provide the cleaners, porters, security and grounds/buildings maintenance.

Our main concern at the moment is the stability of our suppliers. With pubs, restaurants and now schools closed, commercial catering suppliers have seen their volumes collapse.

Never heard of either of the two last and I am not a high court judge.

Any tobacco, alcohol & recreational drug manufacturers
I am hopeful that the Tobacco companies do see a massive hit in their profitability, even if they don't go bust.

There may not be a link between the underlying conditions and smoking, but at the very least I hope people will think twice before causing their lungs and airways unessesary damage.

The company I work for, Thermofisher Scientific. Currently churning out 2 million CoronaVirus test kits a week and ramping up to 5 million next month, also make facemasks, latex gloves and numerous other items of medical PPE. We are also providing raw materials for vaccine research and will make the vaccine once it is formulated and approved, so I have no worries right now about employment.

Water/sewage companies. Also plumbing and drainage firms. Even more in demand due to the numpties who think using kitchen roll or wet wipes are a substitute for toilet paper and end up blocking toilets and drains.

Unfortunately, kitchen roll and wet wipes are currently a substitute for many due to the sheer selfishness and greed of the population. There are also increasing reports of newspaper being sent down the khazi. People are obviously having to use these things but they should be disposing of them correctly.

Can't see a problem with using kitchen roll as toilet paper providing the layers are split apart. While its not quite a soft as regular toilet paper its still much better than the tracing paper type and still breaks down when wet.

Wow! 5 million a week! Are these self test kits or do we need massive lab capacity to use them?
Or are you supplying the world?
