The drug of choice in my working class area of Glasgow was booze.
Noticeable Class A drugs arrived in the poorer areas at the same time as deindustrialisation and unemployment.
Funny that.

At least we got this out of it...

Cannabis tea is apparently rather nice. A friend of mine, a pianist, finds it very beneficial for her.

I recall a special garlic bread as a student ....quite delicious (and very amusing afterwards) - and "space cakes" are a well known feature in certain circles

Friends of mine back in the day - used to eat "special" Swiss Rolls....

Brownies are usually the go-to recipe for people who want to eat cannabis as opposed to smoking it.

Laudanum was very popular in Victorian times, I believe it was a perfectly respectable cough medicine.

Cough medicine, pain relief, and much more. Laudanum was relatively common-place by the 18th century, and was a staple of naval medicine chests in Napoleonic times. Coca leaves also took off in the 19th century, not least in the form of Coca-Cola :)
