My travel per day for 5 days a week will be:

Outbound:
  • bus
  • East Croydon - Clapham - Vauxhall
Return:
  • bus
  • Victoria - East Croydon
  • bus (free as Hopper fare)

Assuming there's 251 working days / year. I'm ruling out the Annual Bus & Tram Pass as that's £988.

Option 1:
London Travelcard Zones 1-5 £2920

Option 2:
London Victoria only £1988 + single bus fares (£3.50/day) £878.50 = £2866.50. However I'm not sure if I can exit at Vauxhall NR with this ticket?

Option 3:
London Terminals £2212 + single bus fare (£3.50/day) £878.50 = £3090.50. This ends up being more expensive then the travelcard so ruling this out.

Do you need to return from Victoria by train? An annual Travelcard for Zones 2-5 would cover East Croydon - Vauxhall, and all your bus journeys for £1,700.

If the Op doesn’t want to have two packed trains every evening with no chance of getting a seat, then yes they need to board at Victoria.

Also worth noting the hopper fare will inevitably not work for you a few times at least over the year when there is more than 60 minutes in between the two buses because the Vic-East Croydon trains are delayed

So the Z2-5 Travelcard saves £1220 (= £4.86 per working day, if there's 251 of them) relative to the Z1-5 one, in exchange for costing £3.50 peak / £1.90 off-peak for every journey from Victoria (or otherwise using the National Rail fare scale in Z1, or £2.80 peak / £1.75 off-peak on the TfL-LU fare scale, or £5.30 peak / £3.00 off-peak on the mixed-mode fare scale). This is using Pay-As-You-Go balance loaded onto the Oyster card for seamless combination with the Travelcard, with the Annual Gold Card discount applying to off-peak journeys (not starting between 6.30-9.30am or 4-7pm on weekdays).

Will these always be during peak hours and what level of leisure/non-work travel will you be having?
