Will taking the ARRIVA assessments effect my current progress elsewhere?

I recently passed the written assessments for a Shunter role (SWR) & am awaiting an interview, before that happens I am due attend the initial assessment day for trainee driver with ARRIVA.

If I fail the ARRIVA assessments, can this effect my Shunter progression?

I’m reading in places on here that it could well do or should I email ARRIVA?

Thanks in advance…

Depends if it’s a shunter or shunter driver role. Any specifics on duties? Does it include driving?

when I went to ARL tests they advised us on the day whether the results will affect other applications and give us the option to either continue or withdraw

It did say in the job description, amongst many other things:

To form up & shunt stock as directed
Form up service trains
Prepare trains for service
Carey out driver only preparation as required
Report any defects found on stock

So perhaps it could be driver duties.

Job title is MB2 Shunter if that helps?

So that sounds like a ground shunter so no driving involved. You should be fine with taking driver assessments at Arriva as that shouldn’t be part of the SWR shunter process and therefore shouldn’t affect other applications.

Actually you’re right, it does sound like it’s a ground Shunter.

In any case, am I right in saying because one is for SWR and ARRIVA is the London Overground, it wouldn’t count anyway??

I was told if you did the Tube assessments for TFL they don’t count towards your 2 TOC chances?!

That would be London Underground whereas ARL/London Overground is classed as a mainline driver and therefore normal psychometric assessments/full rules course.
