For anybody residing in the Wisbech area, were/are you aware that Wisbech Model Railway Club has been in existence for nearly 13 years now? It was started following a meeting of the then Wisbech - March Bramley Line and held our first meeting in nearby Emneth just 3 weeks later, before then moving into the town centre a couple of years later. Back in mid-February 2016, 'The Club' as members know it, were given just 2 weeks notice to quit that venue, under the claim another group wanted to use the same room for 6 weeks during the day, but despite the layout being 'boxed up' and put away as it was, it would still be in the way!

Fortunately, we were very quickly offered a room for ourselves, upstairs in the Wisbech Institute, Hill Street, Wisbech, PE13 1BA and at a similar rent to that we had been paying, so snapped it up and now Very Happy indeed there. We have our first layout known as Hungate Bridge in 00 gauge, that is steam/green diesel era when exhibiting, that has been exhibited a few times since building it, plus we are now in the process of replacing some of the scenery, plus in the process of building a Modern Image layout in N gauge, hopefully to be exhibited later this year.

We meet on a Monday evening from 18.30 until 21.00 and the first couple of visits are free, to see if you like it, and/or we like you and get on, then if so, we like you to join, but membership does Not have to be paid in full. Tea/coffee is laid on at just 20p per cup, so if you do eventually join us, please bring a mug?

During the summer when the town holds its Annual Rose Fair, so 'The Club' holds 'Open Days' as such, where we open to the public, making NO charge for entry, but do like to take donations, with it being split equally 50-50 between us and the Landlord as such, showing a small number of layouts, plus a trade stand or two, depending on room available. Wheelchair access IS available, as we use the ballroom of the Institute for these events, so as to allow wheelchair users access.

For further details, please see our website on www.wisbechmodelrailwayclub.simplesite.com or contact [email protected] where you will get a reply normally within 24 hours. Thank you very much.
