Thanks. Does anyone know if this has gone to Tyseley or Donnington. Any information much appreciated. Thanks
196011 went to Tyseley. Reportedly another due this week. 196009 left Donnington also but no idea where it is now. Could be one of the coaches noted on the M5 today.

My info had 196009 as having turned up at Tyseley.
Anything heading south on the M5 could only be heading to the CAF site in South Wales couldn't it?

196108 is reported to have disappeared from the Donnington terminal - could it be this that was sighted heading south on the M5?

Viewed Tyseley this afternoon. In the shed were 103 &108, which now confirms where it went on leaving Donnington. The Carriage sidings had 5 four cars only 102 & 104. Interestingly it there appeared to be 4 two cars only (011 could be identified)I had only recorded 005, 006 & 011 as being at Tyseley. Any information or correction on the two cars appreciated.

My records have 006 as being at Donnington and it was eyeballed there on 17/06/21!
All of the others you mention I have as being at Tyseley

196007 being delivered from Donnington to Tyseley as I type. Running 136 late.
37608 and 37611 providing traction.

Update: Is anyone able to confirm which unit actually went as I have now been quoted 008 and 009 too !!!

5Q66 today conveyed 196109 between 37601 and 37611 and barriers 6378/79, from Donnington to Tyseley. However this got turned back at Walsall and is apparently returning to Donnington.

According to RTT 544N was turned back at Walsall 'Awaiting terminal/yard acceptance' so apparently Tyseley refused it for some reason.
Why is it necessary for these to be hauled. Can they not be driven?

Because the units at Donnington haven't been accepted and tested so I presume that the reason for them to be dragged.

All testing is done out of Tyseley.

Apparently Julian Edwards (WMR Managing Director) said the Class 196s would begin service in Q2 2022.

If true, not sure how WMR are going to ride out the rest of this year. Even with the significantly reduced timetable they are currently running, they are still constantly short-forming services. And I'm sure EMR are going to want their 170s soon... WMR could be approaching a serious shortage of units.

Not sure if WMR are going to lose anymore 170s for EMR yet. 7 only went in May to cover EMR timetable demands. Don't think they going to get anymore until the 196s start coming into service.

A friend of mine says 196006, 196007 & 196011 were brough from Tysely to Bletchely yesterday (02/09/2021). The optimist in me says that is in preparation for the Oxford to/from Milton Keynes service, BUT perhaps mileage accumulation up and down the WCML OR have the run out of space to keep the units ?. So... What are they really at Bletchley for ?

Believe they are just being stored there to free up space at Tyseley, for testing of more new units.

Getting them out of the way jnto secure storage. Last week a 196 was hit by graffiti when on the depot at Tyseley. 3 Road. was visible from the main lines.

Interesting.
Please can the op assist further or anyone else for this matter when is Q2 2022.
Also as well will the 196s replace the 170s few operated services on the Hereford services first.
Finally when will the 196s replace the 170s in public service on the Birmingham to Shrewsbury services please.
Thank you further.
