350108 has been vinyled in an anti-trespass livery. credit to Kris Nelson on FB
Oh, I knew someone would beat me to it!
I love how they’ve pulled a GWR and not bothered vinyling the rest of the train into LNR livery...
Indeed.

It's quite an unusual livery really. It's a bit of variety so I shall be looking out for it!

As long as the set number is visible for staff to identify it. Individual vehicle numbers are also inside each vehicle. As long as staff working on the unit are able to identify the relevant unit/vehicle as & when required that’s ok.

Have any more 196s been delivered? 196101 was tested last year but have not heard anything since.

Any 196 deliveries are not going to Tyseley, but are going to Donnington RFT by road for storage .

All training and use of 196's AFAIK is currently suspended due to a major issue with the units. None of the one's at Tyseley have actually completed the obligatory fault free running. That doesn't bode well at present.

Especially considering some of the 170s have already been released to EMR and the 153s are now in warm storage - the revised Covid timetable must be a God send for WMR as they require less units in daily service

Think I've seen internally that some of the 170s could return for WMR service whilst in EMR livery at some point.

Now that would be an interesting site to see! Sounds like a similar situation to when TPE’s 350s were vinyled into LNR livery due to transfer delays

Presumably this is for social distancing? It's weird to see how adaptable the 139 layout it but it's got to be a plus I suppose. Hopefully it won't last beyond social distancing measures but we never know.

If Stratford-upon-Avon is a heritage station then so are nearly half of the stations in the country. Unless they mean that it is a station in a heritage town.

2019 Heritage entrance and booking hall!!!!!

I would imagine its because Stratford gets a lot of tourism from its history and a certain famous writer.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned on here given that it’s not a WMR-managed station, but Solihull has station signs that are jointly branded between Chiltern Railways and WMR.

It is in the updated style of Chiltern Railways with additional WMR branding in the bottom left hand corner

You have to ask why this sort of nonsense is being persisted with given that franchising is dead. Should be using the new Rail Alphabet* and NR-defined signage guidelines.

* Personally I'd rather we went back to original Rail Alphabet, with black lettering on a white background, because it was readable.

Franchising as we know it may be dead*, but that certainly doesn't mean a rolling back to a monolothic super-standardised railway either. "Regional identity" still looks set to play a role, so if it was going to be anything it should have been in full WMR orange

the signs at Solihull have been there since the end of 2019, when franchising was still alive

I have a couple of questions.

Why didn't LNWR relivery all of their /2s? I know they are being replaced soon but why did they bother doing any at all?

Thanks :)

Just a gentle reminder that this thread is for the discussion of Wmtrains livery and station branding.

If anyone wants to discuss anything else such as Class 350 operations or what trains should operate on the Abbey Line then they are welcome to start a new thread elsewhere (or find a suitable existing one).

Thanks :)

The same reason most franchises treat their outgoing stock. To remove the old branding in an affordable way to avoid putting the full branding on

Updated list of all the WMR/LNWR branded trains/stations (as of 11/3/21).

Class 350/1 - see the dedicated Class 350/1 refurb thread.
There doesn't appear to be a list on that thread.

I have my own general 350 refurb thread for all units, with an up to date /1 status list on the link below to add to your list if youd like! :D
