Interesting that it doesn't say they run again in June, is this possibly due to engineering work?

Thanks for posting those up here, gives me something to work with now for planning some Holidaymaker HST bashes now :D

I suppose it's a better use of resources than the Heaton-Plymouth ecs move of recent years. I don't know whether the Neville Hill-Manc ecs runs will have a guard, but if they do it does seem pretty daft to run them as ecs, especially as they have a stop at Leeds. One passenger would bring in more revenue than none after all.

...but of course, it isn't British Rail, where such an arrangement could possibly be made. The franchise system makes the running of this as a public service too much paperwork, I would guess.

They won't as neither Leeds nor Manchester XC guards sign the TransPennine route.

Which route between Leeds and Manchester is cleared, and is this a) a remanant from BR days, b) a hangover from Project Rio, or is it a case that is LHCS previously went that way, the HST will be fine gauge wise, since platform length is not an issue.

Is it XC route conducting NXEC / XC drivers across to Manchester, then XC drivers from Manchester?

A fragmented network means a train which could easily serve passengers will run light across the country. It's a tragic waste of resources, really.

I can just picture the huge queue of people out of the door at Leeds at 5.30 wanting to travel non-stop to Piccadilly. How can we leave them all stranded like that? What about all the normal franchise movements that leave depot stations empty every day of the week with a full crew on board? Why have people decided an empty HST on a temporary hire is once a week is such a tragic waste rather than units to local stops 6 days a week all through the year?

Any capacity is capacity worth having. Add in another stop at Sheffield, and then it's useful.

The Bournmouth trains that run via Birmingham could do with extra capacity as those train are always full to brimming when it loads up at Birmingham New Street/International - when I see them anyway. It is usually a 4/5 car (Super) Voyager
