I have looked on SW Trains & First GW websites before posting this query! Is there a passenger service over this connecting line?

I'm pretty sure that it is pressed into service when engineering works dictate, but I've yet to manage to catch one of them!

No passenger trains booked over it, though it does happen (non-stop) when engineering work blokes Exeter-Taunton etc.

It is used for the occasional doversion, but otherwise not until they take up the idea of a Bournemouth-Exeter service via Weymouth and Yeovil PM/Jct that I've been recommending for ages, but which so far they haven't listened. :(

Thanks, MattE2010. I really appreciate your help. I suspected that the answer would be 'no' !
I'll have to try to keep an eye on scheduled engineering work as I fancy a ride on this stretch of line!

Night Riviera sleeper often goes this route (not stopping) on Sunday nights/Monday morning.

Unfortunately, you just missed a couple of opportunities this Saturday when the 1245 Axminster to Pen Mill and the 1330 Pen Mill to Yeovil Junction were booked to use this chord. The next (and currently the only scheduled) opportunity is the 2257 Exeter St Davids to Salisbury from 6th to 8th August.

Keep an eye on http://www.auod93.dsl.pipex.com/UT_S33.htm for any furthur opportunities.

I have written to the council, to ask them to re-instate a public rail link to connect Yeovil Junction to Yeovil Penmill, here's the link is anyone wants to do the same?

http://www.southsomerset.gov.uk/contact-us/contact-us-online/

I think the more people ask for this service to be re-instated, the more likely this will happen. It will totally make using the rail access easier if we can get to Yeovil Junction from the town eh?!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the South West Coaches number 68, which runs every half hour from the town centre and connects with train services at both stations, already included in the National Rail system like the MK–Cambridge bus?
I didn't know that so I take your point about that, but I still think if there is a rail line, it just as well be used eh?! I think it will be a lot more convenient, be quicker and save sitting in traffic.

I made it as far as Westbury with First Great Western, where South West Trains were cancelled to both Salisbury (London Waterloo) and Yeovil Junction so the Yeovil Pen Mill to Yeovil Junction chord will probably have to wait until 2013.
