If LNER are so short of stock or have been lately, why is the shuttle between York an Peterborough regularly formed of two 5 Car sets?

Maybe as part of the Kings Cross platform works the idea is that it connects with 12 car Thameslink services to/from St Pancras. So a separate issue to the current shortages.

Because they are not short of stock, they have enough stock to run the timetable

LNER have cut some services back to Peterborough because of the reduced number of platforms at King's Cross

Isn’t the shortage more of a problem for the bi-mode class 800 sets rather than the electric only class 801 sets, which the Peterborough to York shuttles are formed of.
