Sorry if this has been asked before, but where can one get the timings of steam excursions ? In particular I`m thinking of taking our three year old to the ECML tomorrow and would like him (and me ! ) to see the York Yuletide Express. The Railway Touring Company reports that it eaves Peterborough at 10.45 but doesn`t get to York till 13.17, so what does it do in the interim ? ! ?
Someone told me all steam timings were on uksteam.info but I can`t seem to find many on there.

December 2016 trains

Looking at RTT it shows that it spends a good half and hour in Babworth Loop, which will add to the already slack timings of charter trains.

Tanks very much for that. The railway Touring Company reports the train stops at Doncaster for water, but your link seems to indicate it actually stops at Babworth and then straight through Doncaster, would that sound logical ? Why it`s important is I was thinking of taking my Daniel to see the train at Retford rather than Donc because I didn`t think it`d be going fast at Donc ! That matters because one can see a steam train going at low speed easily on any heritage line, it`s the high speed bit which requires mainline steam.....
Where do you reckon I`d stand a better chance of seeing it at speed ?

We went to Doncaster in the end, 46233 did pass - 24 late - it did`t stop (good), but because it`d just been looped for 2 expresses to pass it was going pretty slowly. Good for the photographers, but not really what I wanted ! It was still impressive though.

The above is from Ealing Broadway, I assume it`s the same train ?

Can`t find the timings on either Realtime Trains or Open Train Times ! Can anyone help ? ! ?

They all say timed for a diesel loco, I assume that`s an error ?

Unfortunately I've not seen any times for tomorrow's tour either, although I'm more interested in the ECS move from Holgate which is being worked by D9002. Hopefully something will appear today...

Not so much an error as the standard thing. "Timed for" and "Hauled by" are not necessarily the same thing. It's there for scheduling purposes, not for motive power allocation. There are only certain timing schedules (timing loads) in the system, none of which are for steam locos.

Not an error; it's just a timing load.

Allocation data isn't available unfortunately (though in some cases, for some train companies, you can work out the likely allocation based on the timing load)

Does anyone know whether there was a steam-hauled tour leaving York at around 1530-ish on Saturday? I was wondering into the town centre around that time and heard a throaty whistle sound 3 times from somewhere, but I don't know if the Road Trains have a whistle like that?

46233 was in York yesterday with an excursion from London (Ealing Broadway to be precise).

At the time you mention it was moving to the NRM, presumably for servicing...
