Yes. Every seat on the 1515 off KX was reserved for some duration of the journey (got in a seat reserved from P'boro though).

4141 on the 3.50 and 5.10 Loughborough to Leicester to Loughborough Santa Special Plus departures on Saturday, though I dont like the Gresley coach at speed as it has a tendancy to hunt the rails.

73129 on the 1.00 Express from Loughborough to Leicester on Sunday 16th October.

92212 on Saturday 9th October on the 11.00 and 12.36 Minerals Trains from Rothley to Loughborough.

45305 on Sunday 24th July on the 'Irish Mail' TPO Express Run at 3.20 from Loughborough to Rothley.

Does an 86 in the cab from Coventry to Oxley count? If not, the last Virgin Trains HST between Wolverhampton and Brum, or possibly 37429 from New St to Holyhead via the West Coast Mainline.

I'm not sure EMUs count? ;)

If you count EMUs, then my best EMU trip would be the nearly record breaking non-stop (69 minutes!) run from Dover Priory to London Victoria on 30 December 2004 on a 12CEP! (was that really a YEAR ago?! )

But my best 'haulage' would have to be Newport to Manchester on a 47 on 30 May, it was a Footex and enthusiasts had avoided it as they were worried about the footy fans. In fact, it was only Preston North End so nothing to worry about. I got the front right window for the entire journey until it got dark at Stockport, and there were no other enthusiasts on the train, no 'competition' for the window ;) . We left late but caught up time, a very fast run. A gloriously sunny evening, couldn't believe my luck! :D

Nothing can beat a trip from Fort William to Edinburgh on the (still!) Class 37 hauled Caledonian Sleeper on a fine Summers evening though. And the best thing about it? I can go again a few times next Summer. Sorry, EWS - you lose! Bring it on!

But that's not haulage. That's an overall trip. A fantastic trip it was, but you'd have to pick one bit for your favourite haulage. ;)

They've got some as far as I know! The only problem is, it would just have been a 377/2 run, but with a 319 vice! Kind of like my 150 service running with a 158 or 170 vice, as per usual! Nothing to get that excited about. The 319s have been to Watford at least 10,000 times, so it's not too much to consider a best ride! Haven't you ever had an 86 turn up when you least expected it, or an 87?

I thought the term haulage meant loco hauled? or has the term changed now to include MU? or should this thread be re-named to best travel, as I dont see units as haulage, just a ride
