The requirement for 51% yellow end was gone by the time these 150/2s entered service. The presence of a working headlight was mandatory if there wasn't the yellow though, so headlight failure meant removal from service.

The 'Network Exile' HRT/SEG railtour of 15/11/86 began and finished at Euston with 2x309s:

In a similar vein, HRT also had a pair of 303s to and from Euston on 04/09/1982:

I find it slightly surprising that the 309 tour didn't go to Glossop as well as Hadfield. Was there a restriction barring them? Did they ever get there in the 90s when allocated to Longsight?

I also find it odd that the 303 tour didn't start in Manchester to go to Euston, given that there would have been 303s at Longsight at the time.

A single 153 on the 17:55 Plymouth to Penzance service was rather cosy but at the time unfortunately not a one off when a 150 wasn't available

The 17:55 service was also worked by 802s in their early days of service, and then by Castle Sets, first slam door then sliding door sets, before the December timetable change put the 17:55 Plymouth to Penzance service into the history books, sot this service had quite the range of allocations over the years from solo 153s to 9 car 802s

There was a spell when it was actually booked for a 153.

I was hoping to provide a date but couldn't remember either.
Think current events has made everything else seem so long ago now, even the departure of 150/0s from GWR feels like years!

I have a feeling it was around about the time the first 150/1s left, and GWR were trying to stretch out their South West fleet as much as possible?

I remember a 158 turning up in peak time on a Birmingham to Four Oaks cross city working, just before electrification went live. Seem to remember it just about kept time on the road, but lost time at the stations
They also turned up on the Cross City line when some 323s were temporarily withdrawn, i think about 2003. I travelled on and photographed 158783 at Chester Road.
