Partly inspired by the "Favourite/Worst TOCs thread", and partly after thumbing through my copy of Colin Boocock's "Railway Liveries 1995-2000", I'm inclined to ask everyone, just what is your favourite passenger TOC livery of privatisation?

Whilst leafing through "Railway Liveries...", it struck me that, for me personally, there are vey few of the more recent privatisation liveries that actually stand out for me, most of my favourites are from the first round of franchising. Few of the more recent ones stand out for me.

I have limited the scope of this poll to just the passenger TOCs, past or present, as that is quite enough to be geting on with, and only to the standard liveries that were widely applied to the relevant companies' train fleets, not experimental liveries or interim branded liveries such as the NX "white stripe".

My apologies if I have missed a crucial livery, I'm sure to have forgotten something!

To get the ball rolling, my favourites are:
GNER
Northern Spirit blue/green
North West Trains blue/gold
Anglia Railways turqoise/white
NX Caledonian Sleeper purple/silver
Midland Mainline teal green with tangerine stripes

I always liked photographing Virgins original livery and also found the fag packet Great Western livery very nice. I do think out of the newer ones that London Midland and CrossCountry ones look quite nice.

We'd rather not have polls thanks, it discourages debate and we have had these problems in the past. Would probably be easier if everyone could post their own reply. They tend to encourage other polls and annoy members.

GNER before the contrasting doors. I appreciate the reason for the contrasting doors, but it looked smarter without.

Hmmm, I couldn't really choose as there's such a enlighting variety of liveries to choose from but I can say without doubt that First comes tops and the current National Express livery comes last.

Yes, they were a shame - Chris Garnett campaigned hard against being forced to paint the doors red, though - he didn't like it either! :)

GNER for me too.

Southern - and the interior as well. I think it looks very good.

Behind that, maybe the new Merseyrail livery.

1) Silverlink
2) Alphaline Silver (as seen on Wessex 158s)
3) Great Western Trains
4) WAGN (original)

Least favourite have to be

1) Merseyrail current
2) London Midland
3) Northern Spirit (blue one, not the trans-pennine)

Umm, this may seem like a silly question but if you'd rather not have polls then why don't you disable the polls function on the site?

My favourite liverys are Grand Central 180 livery, East Midlands Trains livery (looks best on the HSTs), Northern (especially the promotional versions) and I also think Cross Country looks good as well.

Have never seen GNER blue with an orange stripe, saw plenty with red ones though, and personally never liked it or the current version with a white stripe (at least you can now read the numbers!).

Not sure I have a favourite out of any of the current liveries out there, did like the VT red and black with white stripes though.

Its a shame franchising wasn't done on a similar style to certain fast food chains and all companies had to use the liveries at that time then we could have kept InterCity, NSE toothpaste and Reggie Rail!

For me it is Northern Spirit (Blue and Green version) and GNER bother before and after red doors.
I also like the current London Overground and the EMT White.

Not too keen on the Arriva livery though.

Favorite 3 would be;
1) FSR Barbie
2) ScotRail Swoosh
3) c2c's purple livery

I didn't particularly like Valley Lines, as I found the colours didn't really go together, and whilst GNER was ok, it was a bit bland, the same goes for GC.
I like EMT's livery on most things, but I think it looks almost childish on the HSTs.

I did like the old Thameslink livery, Southern and First Great Eastern livery, but don't know if NSE would count as it lastesd until 2007 on the Class 465s (or a couple & various slamdoors up until withdrawl in 2005)?
