I have made this thread so people can post there winner locos and units for sight; kind of like the red pen thread for haulages.

I can only remember the locos for 2015 though.

Not much for me to shout about.......

68005

18/2/15

70809

I go for numbers on an all time basis rather than reset each year like some so I'm mainly after new locos (68s and a few 70s) and a few 66s from GBRf, F/liner & DRS.

I'm still after a couple of odd electrics. I don't travel that much so all this is taking time!

The previous one was dated for 2014 only, but it was not a very popular thread. I have amended the title of this thread so that it can be used for all future discussions on sightings, not just in 2015.

Wow you needed a lot for sight there!

I will have to dig out my now-old notebook for the first lot of 2015's new sightings, once I've done that I'll get the rest added.

Like the idea of making it a long-term thread rather than limiting it to 2015. I will be posting on this thread more often this year, as I'm making notes of what I score for sight in my notebook rather than just ticking them off and forgetting what it all was!

Admittedly a lot of my new sightings this year have been MK3s and MK4s, to be fair there isn't a lot I need for sight in the UK these days!

Wait until I get time to through the rest of my logs for this year and update on here!!

Question: Is there any thread on here for new shacks?

Follow up Question: With posting on this thread, red pen, trains seen working and asking about a new shack thread am I becoming a bit obsessive with this?

Sounds like you've come across a need for a thread we don't yet have. My winner shacks currently get listed in my posts on Red Pen 2015, could be interesting to see if anyone else would find such a thread useful. I'm on my phone this morning, and I still need to dig out my old notebook for the rest of 2015's notes, but I'll start the thread shortly :)

Looks like you've had a busy year then, shall look forward to more updates!

At the start of this year I required a handful of newer diesel locos (66/68/70), no electric locos, 4 DMUs (all 171s) and huggins of EMUs for sight.
So far I've scored these:

66756
66762
66766
375703
377464
395002
395014
395025
444044
450037
450113

and that's it. Hopefully I'll add one or two more before December 31st :)

Ok I will have to come clean. What do you mean with "by sight" as opposed to haulage?

Thanks.

Claiming something for sight = Marking it off in the book as seen.

Claiming something for haulage = Having ridden on said train/behind said train, it then gets marked off in the book as had for haulage.

Sorry if I've either not answered your question very well or if you now have more questions!

Thank you, you have answered it very well. Fairly obvious now you explain it but I just could not get my head around what it meant before.

Many thanks.

Nay drama, we've all got to learn sometime! If it helps, I'm clueless with the talk of electrification, I have no idea what a lot of it is about. I have to re-read some posts a few times to get it read properly but I still don't understand it.

Glad I could help :)

You've sent me to memories of the days (2004-2006) when I needed absolutely loads of stuff for sight in Scotland! Happy times :D

I should have a fair ol' list to add to this on Monday, following a trip to Manchester. Megaton of Metrolink trams is probably all it'll be but still :)

Happy times indeed! Just starting out so I need near enough everything. Funnily enough, next to none of that was for haulage!

Same for my first Scottish trip in November 2004, not much haulages (not that I was recording them sadly) but a megaton of ticks in the book!

I have a feeling you're going to love Clapham Junction on a weekday evening peak, same for London Bridge. Good gosh those two make it hard to spot everything and keep track of it all!

*Heads off-forum for a while, overloaded with nostalgia*

The first time I went to Edinburgh while doing spotting, (and the second, and the third), I wasn't recording haulages, and to this day I have never had a SR unit for haulage. But I now don't need many 170s, 158s and 380/1s for sight, but I still need a fair few 334s and 156s. Never been to Glasgow though!

Three consecutive winning units for haulage also provided me with my last three 507s for sight:
507012, 507020 and 507032.

As I've seen scrapped 507022 (and 507004 in its original form), that means the 507 fleet has been completely cleared, which I'm happy about :)

Congratulations, how do you mean 507004 in its original form? I never saw 507022 sadly, so will never fully clear the class for sight, same sort of story with 142s and the two scrapped ones.

Info regards 507004/022

507022 was written off as a result of a serious collision with 507004
at Kirkdale TMD in 1991. Driving motor 64388 is now in 507004, as the
latter's was damaged beyond repair, and the other motor carriage,
renumbered, is in Glasgow-based 314203.
