With the obvious caveat that they only covered zones 1 and 2...

There was a website a few years ago that tried to do this sort of caculation, where you input your likely travel and it made recommendations, but I think it disappeared around the time NR was brought fully in to the Oyster system. May have been a coincidence of course...

I like the idea behind it, but how many Londoners stay in zones 1 and 2. And never use the bus which adds a whole new level of complexity.

At least London has few truly silly fares (like my local bus company who until their last fares rise charged less for a day ticket round my local town than for a return from my local stop into town - neither with any time restriction).
