    Aircoach Ireland (FirstGroup) Discussion

Will be interesting to see how these changes affect fares. Ive recently moved from Portobello to Donnybrook, so now will be using the 700 to get to the Airport rather than the 782/783 I still personally don't see why they persist with sending the 700 up through Drumcondra, the traffic there...

    Customs Presence at UK Airports

Given Ireland is stepping up Garda checks on the border given the spat-between Sunak and McEntee over migration it may be a bit more difficult now

Catering on short-haul services (or light rail/trams/metros) - could it work?

In Austria, the WestBahn trains have vending machines for hot/cold drinks for snacks I've always thought something like that would go down well on short-haul services in the UK , and be more economical than a trolley

How many National Rail stations don't have gatelines? (estimates welcome)

Apart from Connolly/Heuston/Pearse stations in Dublin , I'd say at least in the Greater Dublin area most IE stations have at least one ticket barrier on each entrance left open pretty much all the time

    “Anti-social behaviour”

I moved to Ireland a few months ago and the term "anti-social behaviour" is very common amongst Irish civil society and the press , particularly when reporting about Dublin city centre !

    Flights you have been on

5th flight of the 2024 ended up being the most interesting one so far EI3280 - Dublin to Bristol using an Aer Lingus Regional ATR72 , had two missed landing attempts at Bristol, before the pilot decided to try at Cardiff. Having also encountered visibilty issues in Cardiff , we were then sent...

    Delay repay availability in Europe

Does that even apply to the Enterprise services ? When I used it , my arrival into Belfast was heavily delayed as a result of a line closure between Drogheda and Dundalk, but even though I booked online I only received the vouchers after a trip to Connolly station to fill out the form

    Delay repay availability in Europe

Irish Rail has delay repay but that involves going to a major station and filling out a paper form , and waiting almost two months in my case , for compensation. In any case it only applies for delays of over an hour. https://www.irishrail.ie/faqs/my-train-was-delayed-when-am-i-entitled-to-a-ref

Why has GWR removed Slough from Cotswold Line services to PAD?

Easier to go Reading, then a semi-fast to Slough and from there Thames Valley route 5, Reading 703 or First Route A4 (from Langley as well) if the RailAir cost is off-putting. Alternatively could go towards West Drayton on the EL and take a 350

Translink and Iarnrod Eireann Fare Differences

Trying to book from Belfast to Dublin via Drogheda in a few weeks , and for some reason IE tickets from Belfast to Dublin are much cheaper than the ones on Translink's website , but the IE website makes you buy tickets from the Translink site , which is more expensive for the same journey ...

Milton Keynes to London Euston/Watford Junction

Super Off Peak Milton Keynes-London tickets tend to be cheaper than MK-Watford tickets, and you can break your journey on them to exit at Watford.

Record for minimalist level of service from a major London terminus?

Marlyebone's half-hourly services to Oxford Parkway on Boxing Day ? Victoria had 3tph leaving the station on the 26th. I can understand the Gatwick services but unsure as to why the Sutton ones were running

    Airport "public transport" tax

Brussels Zaventem has the Diabolo fee , which while the airport stresses is not an " airport surcharge ", given it is levied due to the tunnel construction to the airport it defacto is one In Vienna the City Airport train has a surcharge, but this is easily avoided by catching a Railjet...

How is it decided whether a station should be moved inside the TfL Travelcard/Oyster (or other PTE) area?

Why are Fares from Watford Junction into London , with it's Zone 10 designation , disproportinately higher compared to Watford Met, which is in Zone 7. Other nearby Oyster/Contactless stations like Radlett , which is further out, have cheaper fares into London as well , so why does WFJ in...
