As mentioned on another thread my last haircut (no 4) was several months ago.

It's not often I get to see the back of my head and when I noticed my elder brother had a bit of a bald patch, I asked my younger brother to take a photo of mine on his mobile phone camera (my 5 year old LG £9.99 Argos special does not have a camera - or anything else )

I was going to take the mick out of my elder brother until I saw the shot of mine.

Yeeks :o - I'm like a bloody monk. !!!

It seems to be far more noticeable when your hair is allowed to grow.

Have any other members had an equally traumatic revelation ?

On the positive side of it, at least you won't have to worry about the price of haircuts for much longer. :)

My hair has been receding around the temples for a few years now (I'm also 23).

is anyone on here prepared to admit the "complete lack of a barnet" and are you happy about it ?

I feel your pain, at a bit over 50 I am starting to get a bit thin on top myself.

Conversely I now have a enough hair on my ears and back, that I should be able to make a good living advertising PG tips.

Probably started getting thin in late 20s. Top now very thin, but still got hair on sides & back of head. Wish I had full coverage, but accept there is nothing I can do about it. (Would never use implants or wig, etc.) .

Sod's law that you lose hair in the wrong places - would trade keeping hair on top if I could avoid the need to shave (no - I don't want a beard...)

I seem to be very lucky. 58 and still a full head of hair although completely grey now.
Not sure how I feel about being called "Pops" in the Caribbean takeaway I go to for my ackee and saltfish

I've somehow escaped the family trait so far. My younger brothers each had a receeding hairline and bald on top by the time they were 18. I am now 25 and still have full head of hair with no receeding :D

I'm 17 and it's ok so far

Seriously though, if my family are anything to go by, I should be ok, my late grandad and my dad both had significant heads of hair well into their fifties.

My hairline was receding when I was still at school.

I was 23 or 24 when my sister-in-law got married. When I watched back the video of the day I turned to Mrs Leigh and asked "Who's that bald bloke you were dancing with?" to which she replied "That's you".

I'm fortunate enough not to be suffering from a receding hairline yet, but my hair has begun to grey (I'm 28) slightly and it is now gotten to the point that it is now obvious to the casual observer. I should be greatful though, my old man had gone completely grey by the time he had hit 30. ;)

Whilst I have a small patch at the rear of my head that looks like it is hairless, it actually has hairs still growing on it. This happened in my mid-50's but has never grown any bigger over the last ten years. To compensate for this, my hairline around my temples is still as good as it ever was.

As usual, in one aged 68, my eyebrows and hair in the ear area seem to be growing more vigorously then ever..:D

Though, more importantly, is anyone on here prepared to admit to having a combover?

Like the famous Donald Trump who's "fine head of hair" did not survive the Aberdeenshire winds and was quickly exposed as a "CO"

Anyone remember the guy who used to do The Hamlet Cigar adverts - it was a bit like that :p

My hair was Red and now it's a mixture of grey and rust - after a haircut I see more grey on the floor than anything else.

Agree about eyebrows being a problem - I'm not quite Denis Healey yet - but getting there fast. :p

All those moaning about going bald - well it could be a million times worse - they could be gingers.

Yep, and I'm 22, it all went about 8 years ago. Its easy to get used to and you save a bit of money on shampoo and conditioner. :D

I am a proud sporter of "Male pattern Baldness" and can see nothing wrong with it. IMHO, anyone who worries about the inevitable (if it is in your genetic make-up) loss of hair probably has a lot more to worry about.
