Damn, this all sounds quite brutal but understandable given the job. Congrats to all that have passed and condolences to all that fell short, have got mine in a month... o_O

Quick question however. If you fail for crossrail's 'enhanced' mark but pass the national standard, does this take away from one of your "lives/oppurtunities" of becoming and driver or is it purely a case of failing at Crossrail's standards?

Great tips on here also, anymore would be much appreciated!
Yes a fail with MTR not TOCS accepting national standard.

Congrats and well done! Unfortunately I can't offer much help in the day 2 department - still haven't sat day 1! :s

If you don't mind me asking, how did you find it? Any tips for the day (without revealing anything you shouldn't) and what did you find the most difficult?

All the best for you day 2 assessments!

All the best for you day 2 assessments!

Practise the group bourdon test so that you have a good steady speed along with good accuracy.

Sounds weird but a bit of self cofidence goes along way also. The tests practice papers they send you are the best thing to just keep on practising with.

I would recommend finding the group dots for the bourdon test online as this is the best thing for the actual exam.

Regards

Hey, anyone know what the bottom 3 would be?
I would say 4, 10, 15

Bottom 3
Priorities
Roles and Responsibilities of a Train Driver
1. To complete all the relevant paper work accurately
2. To adhere to all the rules and procedures that are laid down
3. To maintain a high level of concentration
4. To use their initiative to help drive the train quicker
5. To check their personal equipment before starting a shift
6. To provide a smooth ride for customers at all times
7. To give the very best customer service to the MTR Crossrail customer
8. To communicate with customers about any train delays
9. To keep up to date with any rule changes
10. To give customers travel information
11. To carry out checks of train equipment
12. To always keep to time
13. To take control of emergency or unexpected situations
14. To drive trains safely
15. To manage faults on a train

I had my assessment day yesterday and was lucky enough to be one of 2/16 to go through to the next stage in Watford.

Any tips on the next stage?

Any help is massively appreciated.

I'm through too. Just practice I guess and try to relax on the day.

Yeah, was a very challenging day.

I’m worried about the two hand coordination test, as to me, this is the only one you can’t really practice.

Any tips or anything I can do which will put me in a similar mindset?

Also have a MMI test and situation judgment exercise.

Also, during the MMI do they ask you about the history and what I would know about MTR? Or is this only during the DMI they would ask this?

Thanks

Also just heard back that I passed the vse and SJT which I completed on the 8th August. Had got to manager interview stage last year with MTR but never received an email to attend it so have been asked to complete the OTDPQ and then onto the manager interview. Back to revision it is now!

Don't lie...... Lol. Remember it's the OPC that are conducting this, not MTR. This is the part I failed on last time because I made up a situation. And the one question I made up was the one I failed on. They give you time at the beginning of the day where they give you the questions and you write a sentence for each situation. If you don't have an example they tell you to leave it blank and will discuss this with you later. Trust me it's best to leave it blank. Lol. The mmi is more like a competency based interview, "tell me about a time when........." you don't need to revise crossrail for this one and there's not much you can do to practise except practise talking out loud.

Hi All

I have passed all the assessments and DMI, today I received email about completing Outstanding Train Driver Personality Questionnaire (OTDPQ). Is this part of the assessment?

Also does anyone have advice on what to expect on the Driver / Manager interview?

I think playing a lot of first person shooter video games on PlayStation/Xbox helped me. Being used to moving the body with one joystick and the head with the other seems like the only similar activity to me.

MMI is completely competency based about 6 situations/questions. Nothing about the TOC.

Just got an email about a personality test for a dmi
Same here. Completed now just waiting, said up to 4 weeks.

I think you mean the MMI here.

I would also like some insight to the MTR DMI.

Buy yourself a mouse. Don’t use the touch pad. Make sure you have no distractions and try not to panic!

It kind of takes how long it takes, its not timed as such, but the test takes a certain amount of time which you have no influence over. Definitely agree with the above advice, make sure you have no distractions around you whatsoever, and in part 3, try not to lose focus if you make a mistake, part 3 is tricky, and a handful (unknown amount) of mistakes are allowed so don't panic
