Oh I forgot....check roster to ensure your not being diddled out of RDW, repeat that at least one every other hour !

Cheers Tom . I’ve just cycled over there and currently it’s unmanned with a sign up saying road closed, find another route!

Just received an email today that I had to read 3 times before it started sinking in.
Interview last Thursday, job offer today.
Hubberts Bridge box, Grade 2, two trains per hour, with manual crossing on an 8hr roster with no nights.
Hopefully it will be a great place to learn how to become a Signaller.
I've read all 164 pages of this thread amongst other research
Thank you everyone for your invaluable help.
One of the best pieces of advice I read is,
Well, went in for interview last Thursday and got a call around lunchtime on Friday with job offer! This was my first interview and I am straight off the streets, so anything is possible! I start school late February. Thank you everyone for your advice which I took, to the tee, and nailed the interview. It was an intense interview but I went in prepared and relaxed (mostly). This is how I did it:
Beforehand, I opened a word doc and wrote an excerpt on why I want to be a signaller.
I then wrote down each of the 8 NTS. I then wrote a real work related story for each NTS using the STAR method.
I read and memorised the safety vision and the Lifesaving Rules and jotted down my interpretation of the safety vision.
I continuously reviewed what I wrote and correlated each story to its NTS so that when they asked the question, I was able to regurgitate my story without sounding like a robot.
I went in with a positive attitude and a humble demeanour.
I asked a couple of questions to the interviewers at the end.
I crossed my fingers.
I got the job.
I am looking forward to getting started and again, thank you all for the great advice!

Prep and research was key.
I had something like 19 examples ready for the NTS questions and I can recite the lifesaving rules and the safety vision in my sleep.
I'm under no illusion that the real hard work is yet to come, but for now I'm going to enjoy this moment!

When did you have the interview? I applied but haven’t heard anything. I guess if you were told today you were unsuccessful, I won’t be getting interviewed

Hey Chumba
I applied in advance of the closing date of 11 April, received interview invite 9 May, sat interview 16 May and received thumbs up today.
Have you applied for the same post?

That’s ok, that answers my question, if you’ve been offered the Petersfield job, then I won’t be getting an interview well, done.

I've been offered the Hubberts Bridge box!!!
I don't know anything about the Petersfield vacancy, so good luck with it!
Sorry for the crossed wires.

Evening all,

Might be a 'how long is a piece of string' question, but now that the 2019 pay deal has been agreed, any ideas on when we might see the back pay? I assume the May 31st payday is too soon but would 28th June be realistic?

Cheers

Wow, congrats man!

Nice to hear that someone has done well, and also been very lucky hearing back so quick!

Hard work and effort clearly pays off!

All the best mate.

I'd like to assume it will go into June's pay. If not, then surely July's.

Well done :) Curious to know when you start Signalling school - I know there was a comment a week or so ago about spots being possibly filled for the near future. Would you mind letting us know when you get a start date? All the best

Apparently they're 10 trainers down across the 3 schools.
I was told September last week, but just been told November. I've also just been told they're hoping to start some new trainers and it may be August.
So obviously a lot of uncertainty at the moment!

Bonus will be due then too. A bumper month for the tax man if no one else...

Is there any way of seeing how the bonus is shaping up or is it very much just a case of waiting until the relevant info is released?

I glean it's related to scorecards etc but wouldn't even know where to start looking.

Cheers

Well done. Get through signalling school and then worry about the challenges of the location.

Is the annual bonus uniform across all grades and roughly what sort of amount are you talking (last years maybe as an example)

My understanding (and I fully admit this is shaky at best) is that it IS uniform, that the target amount is £750 and that it can't exceed £1500.

I'm sure far more experienced heads than mine will be able to add to the above/tell you I'm talking sh*te :)
