XC05 did 1V50 0606 Edinburgh-Plymouth and 1E63 1525 Plymouth-Leeds today. There are two sets at Leeds tonight and only one is needed for tomorrow morning so it's a 50/50 chance of XC05 being on 1V44 tomorrow morning.

Hello there. I've noticed on the 'Frequency requested diagrams' thread that one of the CrossCountry HST diagrams is 1V58 (09:00 Glasgow Central to Penzance) on Saturdays, which is subject to availability.

Does that mean the 07:26 from Edinburgh to Glasgow (before it forms the Penzance service) is scheduled for an HST or is it ECS from Edinburgh (Craigentinny) to Glasgow?

If the 07:26 is one then it looks like I'm gonna have to hopefully be asleep by 11pm at the latest on Friday night (17th after going to Aberdeen for a few hours from Edinburgh) and be up at 6am at the latest and make a beeline for Waverley station:)!

Even if the 07:26 runs as a Voyager on the day, at least it's a win win as the 07:26 starts at Edinburgh and I get to Glasgow at 8:30am

This is whilst I'm on holiday.

Its great that CrossCountry can allocate a much more spacious big train for an almost 12-hour trip as well.

Thanks - I will update the Frequently Requested Diagrams thread accordingly.

No problem. To be fair that saves me having to go halfway down the drawing board for the 18/04/20 and the 20/04/20 - I'll stick with going to Glasgow from Edinburgh in the morning on the 20/04/20.

Saturdays is just two diagrams in the winter these being:
1V44 0611 Leeds - Plymouth/1S51 1227 Plymouth - Glasgow Central
1V54 0633 Dundee - Plymouth/1E73 1727 Plymouth - Leeds

Most of the Plymouth departures have now moved to 27 mins past the hour as well.

XC05 (43285/43304) is working 1V48 0810 Leeds-Plymouth and 1S55 14:25 Plymouth-Edinburgh today. That puts it on either 1V50 0606 Edinburgh-Plymouth or 1V54 0633 Dundee-Plymouth tomorrow assuming everything goes to plan.

If it’s 1v54 it won’t come back from Plymouth tilll after Christmas.

I'd imagine it'll do 1V54 and then won't do anything else before moving to Wabtec (given that XC02 is already at Laira) but that is purely an educated guess and it may well do 1V50.

2 sets stays at Laira during the week. Both sets come out on Thursday to play. If it does 1v50 on Tuesday it will do 1v44 and 1s51.

It's on 1V54 today and then likely to be stood down. So today is likely to be your last day to get it as a slam door set.

Thanks everyone for the information over the last few days. I thought that I had missed my chance last Monday on its last outing on 1V44. Are any of the ex LNER sets still slam door and/or are any of the EMR slam door sets still going to be used at the beginning of the new year?

What northbound sets are running today? I believe the return from Plymouth 1E73 isn't even a sliding door set it's a Voyager?

EMR to my knowledge is staying slam door until the HSTs leave completely later this year.

The LNER sets will presumably come across in the early part of January with a full take over from February/March? A small amount of crew conversion will be required I expect.

To briefly go further off topic it is a shame more HSTs can’t come across and allow for more double sets on ‘short’ Meridian services. Perhaps that’s just me wanting a decent train to go to Sheffield on though!

So in order to catch XC05 I'm being punished by having to return on a Voyager!
If you did it just to Exeter then you could return on 1E63, which is out of Exeter at 1625ish. Would give you about 40 mins in Exeter mind.

So they should still be running as slam door on Friday/Saturday of this week?

Yes, EMR sets all slam door, and then services move to ex LNER slam door sets in 2020 for about a year (or until the replacement Hitachi sets arrive)

So this week you will get EMR HSTs with slam doors and near original interior seating. Enjoy it whilst you can. If in 1st class I can recommend the menu too.

see this for HST services shown in timetable column headings

https://www.eastmidlandsrailway.co....T_m-bD7VBlSliOIh_26jM/timetable_1_for_web.pdf

Some EMR diagrams are ex Grand Central HST sets too.
