They need to put large full height bins in the vestibules as some TOC or other has. The flap is never large enough to easily get a cup in.

You mean like the Class 700/707/717s as they are the only fleets with full height bins indeed I believe they are the biggest bins available on UK passenger rolling stock.

Travelled on 'refurb' 350106 today and have a few observations.
Externally it was white with contrasting doors but completely blank with no lettering at all. No indication of first class or cycle space and, more surprisingly, not even carriage stock numbers.
Internally the seats in the first had no antomacassors but had first class embossed on the head-rests.
The information screen was interesting. On other trains (e.g. the LNER 225 sets) the actual time is displayed, but on LNwR it's the schedule, so if the train is late it shows the arrival time at the next station as before the current time. Here's what it displayed between Northampton and Wolverton

350106.jpg

However, it does display other data; it informed that the wind speed at Euston was 4mph blowing N, not sure North or Northerly though.'

Here's a glimpse of the luxury in first class. Just at the bottom of the picture you can see that the armrest hinge is already under the weather.

Nothing to do with 350's but in the up sidings opposite Kings Heath depot there's some units in (I think) LUL livery (white with blue skirt and roundels) freshly painted - I was looking for 350/4s on the depot and didn't notice them 'til almost too late - are they D stock?

Those first class seats don't look good...

First Class on a Class 350/1 or /3 (and it seems now /4 too) is inferior to Standard other than a few of the centre sections where an extra row has been crammed in on one side. It's markedly inferior to the extra legroom table found near each cab.

They are 315s released from TfL Rail Shenfield metro services.

I noticed that with the screens when I was on 350115, it was hopelessly late from Euston (26 minutes late by Northampton) but the screens were still showing the schedule time. Not that useful compared to 185s which update the times when they run to 'TPE standard time' (late!)

Thanks for the info about the 315s. I'll only say that the 365's stabled there did not stay pristine for long.
I'm still fascinated by the provision of wind speed/direction info. for Euston. Most people leave Euston by Underground or bus, but if you walk towards KX/StP via the side street you are battered by the vortex winds created by the tower block (??Evergreen East). Still, gives an excuse to display something other than where you should be at the moment.
On their (similar-looking) screens. LNER update the schedule to actual and also give the current punctuality of connections.

I think only one /4’s first class section been done so far (401). The remainder are in the same condition as when they left TPE and are having to wait until the new year due to them arriving late from TPE.

Would be nice if LNR would diagram them consistently as I'd happily pay for 1st if I knew one of those was showing up...bet they won't though. I still think they should keep them as is and ensure that each Trent Valley service contains at least one of them.

How many are 8 car diagrams? Any difference since new timetable considering 2 /4s are in service?

No consistency at all. Peak services can be 2x350/3s one day, 2x350/2s the next. You can overhear many passengers complaining about the lack of tables when 2x350/2s show up. Very poor for journeys such as Lichfield to London.

I had the pleasure of being at the helm of 403 earlier.

Surprised the destination says Tring when it’s clearly at Manchester Airport lol
That was a little easter egg I put in instead of 'Not in Service' while it was being cleaned ;)

Sorry a bit off topic but when I used the south WCML a few times in 2010-2012 back in the LM days the 350/2s had been ordered for the Euston - MK/Tring commuter stopping routes and LM did a very good job of keeping them separated from the Birmingham/Liverpool longer distance regionals. Why in recent years since I've used LNR are 350/2s showing up on long distance services north of Northampton? It isn't the abomination of the new timetable to blame, they were doing it before then. If LM managed to diagram carefully why can't LNR, I'm guessing it was to diagram more flexibly to reduce the number of 4 car services? Many long distance travelers don't like the lack of tables, you can't put books/laptops/food and drink anywhere but the next seat.

The timetable is now too intense! Fewer platforms at Euston mean that dwell time there has been reduced...no longer can trains come in and sit blocking a platform for 50 minutes! (as they could when they had platform 17 for example)
So its in and out, come in from Birmingham and out on the next service which could be a Milton Keynes terminator, in from Crewe and out to Tring.
Just the way it is at present.

I got 350/2s North of Northampton during LM days all the time too. For all their other failings, this is not LNWR's innovation.

Indeed. LM were only better at keeping them separate when they were 100mph units and the /1s 110mph. Once all were 110, the random unit generator re-entered service. /2s on off peak Crewe services weren't actually that bad - the bays of 6 were good for families and groups.

Well yes that would be great but it's totally impossible with the current timetable isn't it?
