Yes, the claim that the short cab was to fit extra seats in is clearly not correct. There's one bay of four between the cab and the doors. On the 720s there's one bay of four plus an inward facing single seat squeezed in.
I think the extra length is between the doors, but if it's also between the cab and doors it still renders the argument about fitting extra seats in void, because it's not true. One bay of four, that's all that's between the cab and the doors. There's no extra space been made in as a result of the shorter cab, just a shorter coach length.720 carriages are around 4m longer than the 701s - isn't extra room between the cab and doors to be expected, even with a larger cab?
The stricken 701029 has now been collected from Humberstone Rd and dropped off at Old Dalby, for later forwarding to the works for attention. Or fixed there, who knows.
Interesting it sheds 115 ton at Woking.!
Another loco hitching a cheeky lift with the consist to save running up light separately perhaps?Interesting it sheds 115 ton at Woking.!
So that's the second one to Widnes? Hoping perhaps this is to do with cab mods?
Well, it's 701022, but it has failed just south of Derby station. Was nice and handy for fitter to attend at least.Anyone know which 701 is on 6X24 Derby to Eastleigh Depot running 89 late with 47749 today please ?
Thanks in advance.
Thank you for the info, much obliged to you.Well, it's 701022, but it has failed just south of Derby station. Was nice and handy for fitter to attend at least.
Edit: Has now pushed back into Derby p7, clearing the line for traffic.
Perhaps not use a 47 to haul them in future. Old heap.6X24 now shows cancelled on RTT. Has been pushed back into Chaddesden sidings and returned to Litchurch.
Note on railcam says issue with translator equipment.
You took the words right out of my mouth.! I was just about to say they never had this issue with isolation + brake force wags.Perhaps not use a 47 to haul them in future. Old heap.![]()
It does seem to be a random allocation at times, some units have had a 47, 56 and break wagons whilst others have just been a single loco in charge.Perhaps not use a 47 to haul them in future. Old heap.![]()
Before long they won't even have a lease on them, and in any case there aren't enough of them to replace the life-expired 455 and 456 fleet.can't they just stick with 707s
Looks like 5Q10 completed the delivery 4 hours late. Maybe 7010295Q10 in system for Tues 18th, starting from Old Dalby. As that was where the failed 701029 was dragged to last time, I assume they're attempting it again.

Confirmed that both U.701022/029 have arrived at Eastleigh Depot.Looks like 5Q10 completed the delivery 4 hours late. Maybe 701029
The delivery yesterday looks like another unit. Maybe 701022?
So, I wonder if this has had mods carried out to the cab. If it has, and they're acceptable then hopefully we may start seeing some progress.
A number of units have been delivered with cab mods applied at build, so one would hope progress has already been made! So, I wonder if this has had mods carried out to the cab. If it has, and they're acceptable then hopefully we may start seeing some progress.
