Spotted yesterday at slade green, heavily graffitied both sides.Realtime Trains - 5Y05 1135 New Beckenham Siding to Slade Green T&R.S.M.D

465913,247 & 466006 heading back to Slade Green now. Two of these will be going to Worksop for storage soon. Might be worth removing “Scrap” from this thread title seen as none of them are actually being scrapped anytime soon…
Not sure if this was common knowledge anyway but Southeastern's Twitter have posted this
Yes - they are still on lease to Southeastern and are just being stored temporarily to make way for the 707s.Is this now clarified that none are going for scrap at this moment in time?

But they can hardly return when the 707s have arrived - there's nowhere to put them?
Realistically at 30 years old and with no sidings for them presumably 30 at least will not be coming back.
Most likely this - although the 376 transfer would explain why they haven’t been refurbished…Or if more depot space is built.
A good point.Or if more depot space is built.
The Chart Leacon work includes 2 phases (phase 1 just for TL service changes and stabling issues) and bidders for the last SE franchise ITT also had to propose plans for additional stabling (and maintenance), the 377 go back to GTR for maintenance for example.Or if more depot space is built.
Given TL won’t be taking up any space at Ashford Down Sidings now, I believe it basically equates to 5 or so 12 car roads at Chart Leacon all in additional capacity. How much space will Chart Leacon bring to SE, roughly?
I've not done a load of train travelling (something about a pandemic), but I've just passed Chart Leacon on way to Tonbridge and was shocked at how big the area is they've opened up if they are building just roads and very little other than the supporting driver extraction humps then I'm very surprised it's only 5 roads it looks like it could handle 8 or 9 but I'm sure someone will put me straightNo

5 is what I described as phase 1 above (originally for SE stock displaced by TL) for quick delivery, with the potential for more stabling and enhanced facilities with that later (if funded).I've not done a load of train travelling (something about a pandemic), but I've just passed Chart Leacon on way to Tonbridge and was shocked at how big the area is they've opened up if they are building just roads and very little other than the supporting driver extraction humps then I'm very surprised it's only 5 roads it looks like it could handle 8 or 9 but I'm sure someone will put me straight
466024, but dont know the others
466024, 466043 & 465010466024, but dont know the others
So Chart Leacon is looking very flattened pretty vast and excavators on site. We will see what SE/TL/NR come up with won't we.5 is what I described as phase 1 above (originally for SE stock displaced by TL) for quick delivery, with the potential for more stabling and enhanced facilities with that later (if funded).
Just passed these at Hornsey.466024, 466043 & 465010
Good to see some photos of it! As mentioned on another thread on here, Thameslink won’t be coming to Ashford or Maidstone anytime soon, so it’s entirely additional berthing for Southeastern as they won’t have to move anything from the Down Sidings now.So Chart Leacon is looking very flattened pretty vast and excavators on site. In order was the usual 37884 doing what it does best at Peterborough with 465010 leading with 466043 and 466024 on the rear. And again 37884 full on sound and noise.466024, 466043 & 465010
That could take years and decent funding for a sizeable amount of space.Or if more depot space is built.
Are the 465s and 466s going to turn into another class that must be saved at all costs? That will take years and funding for a sizeable amount of space.
Is Chart Leacon much good for Networkers as quite remote from metro land?
By then the 465s are touching 35 years old and in store for years.
