Ran out of time on the second test so not particularly hopeful!
You’re not meant to be able to finish that test, it will always time out.
I may have missed something, what’s bad about working for TPE compared to the other TOCs based out of York?
At York you’ve only got TPE and Northern that have train crew depots. I wouldn’t say working at TPE would be bad, but I’d assume given the industrial action, changing over to DOHL and timetable dramas it’s probably been a challenging 18 months or so for TPE staff.

Yeah I thought the same when I did accuracy checking tests. Accuracy is much more important.

Fast and inaccurate will get you nowhere.

Speed just influences how quickly you get called to psychometrics IMO.

Ah thank you both, my application just says Submitted, would it tell me straight away if I hadn't met the standards?

The only thing that might have let me down was I didn't have chance to get to a desktop and do it and the email states that concentration is better when not using a mobile device. Glad I did it when I did though as it seems like they closed down applications pretty sharpish.

No, not necessarily. It’s not over until you’ve been told you’re unsuccessful.

Could be a lengthy wait. Higher scorers may be approached first but they might not be successful and then the next people would be invited (this is my intuition based on my own experience nothing else).

Your deadline to complete those screening assessments is separate to the vacancy being live or not.

I shouldve do it on a computer, feel like I did 18-19. funny that I didn't count haha

I know people who answered fewer but still made it to the psychometrics so don’t count yourself out.

Good luck to all applicants.

Secondly to this, they also take into account the quality of the application. You could have scored really high but if your application lacks effort or is just overall garbage then they would likely take someone with lower scores but a higher quality application.

This is something that’s massively overlooked. People tend to worry and focus more on the online tests than they do the quality of their application.

If they give you 5000 characters to sell yourself and explain your skills and experiences then use them!

Under each of your work experiences there was a question that said something along the lines of “how will your experiences in this role help you in the role you’re applying for”.

Questions like this are your opportunity to sell yourself and to the people that sift the applications! This is where you want to be putting in the effort to make yourself stand out from the crowd! Your application form is all they have to go off to build a picture of you as a candidate. Im lead to believe that the screening is done completely blind at this stage so questions like this on an application form are your opportunity to stand out.

Has Anyone heard anything Yet??
Heard nothing myself, in mine and I’m sure many other people’s experiences, railway recruitment is notoriously slow! The HR teams and driver team managers will have hundreds of applications to sift through, although I am a sucker for checking my emails every 10 minutes

Well done! And same here, I’m reading the through the information they give you (pretty rubbish) only 2 I’m not that confident on rest including mmi I feel happy about
I've not long passed with a different TOC. Don't worry it's not as bad as you think. Practice the dots , the software on here is great and try to relax on the day , listen to all the info and don't assume and you'll be fine. Wish you all the best. The wait for a start date is worse than the tests . You'll be in that group soon enough I'm sure.

Thank you! And well done! The 2 I’m most worried about is the one where you see the pictures for like 1 second and tick what you see and other is hand writing the report because my hand writing is really really bad!

Pictures as others will testify don't guess only tick what you see, I didn't do the writing test so others may be able to help with that.

I don’t think it’s fair to say they are not as bad as you think.

It’s a very relative thing.
I found it to be fairly straight forward but I was the only one in my assessment day who made it through. So that suggests the majority on that day found it to be even worse than they expected.

Just have to prepare sensibly but not overdo it and get good rest the day before. The rest is down to if you have the skills to pass the test or not.

I take your point, however just sharing my experience. I felt not being beat mentally before I even stepped in the room was beneficial to me. It may or may not be to others.

I just wouldn’t like someone to go in there having not prepared properly and then being left with a shock.

And if they do fail I wouldn’t want them to feel overly disappointed.

The majority don’t make it. I went in with the attitude of I’ll do my very best but the chances are I won’t make it. And in the end I did.

But the percentage figures do speak for themselves.

I've an assessment too, first time I've reached that stage. Does anyone know if it's a shirt & tie job or just whatever you're comfortable in?

Smart casual. You need to be comfortable as its a long day. But equally, don't turn up in joggers and a hoody
