Just for info, there is a picture on 'the rail scene' facebook this evening of 60014, what look like (externally) whole 56303 & 56081 and 69011 at Longport
69009 has been painted into Gbrf normal blue and will leave Eastleigh soon. 69010 will go into the paint shop next and 69011 has completed its mainline test runs
My source was probably inaccurate as I heard from a different source that 69009 is to be painted into a special livery. Maybe 69010 is to be painted into Gbrf blueInterestingly, WNXX report this morning that 69009 is due out of Eastleigh Works on the 23rd (planned), that it will carry a special livery and will be named, 69009 will then go in for painting before 69010, meanwhile 69011 has been out for mainline testing with 66765 for insurance
It arrived there last Monday - 0Z69 Marsden to Tuebrook Sdgs (https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:47191/2024-02-12/detailed). It replaced 69007 which went back to Doncaster last night via 6E24 with 66731.69003 has arrived at Tuebrook to assist biomass trains heading up the steep gradient out of the docks.
That seems to be the larger consensus so I will go with that - thanks for the responseAccording to train logger it was 56032.
Those timings are cruel. At least 008 went to Tonbridge in broad daylight.69009 will leave Eastleigh in its new paintwork tomorrow. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:R02135/2024-02-23/detailed
Liking the look of that! I love how GBRf are just throwing absolutely anything on the locos - I'm all here for it!69009 is in a nice special livery!!!
That is impressive, I wonder if other class 52 liveries will follow… golden ochre next?
Can anyone make out the name, WESTERN is clear but I can’t make out the second word?
I wonder what GBRf's connection is with the name "Western Consort" (D1065) in 69009? I wondered if a "009" connection would use D1009's name, "Western Invader"Western Consort according to the Arlington Fleet Services facebook, I guess they should know if anyone does
Loco was 56065 wasn't it....56065 - D1065I wonder what GBRf's connection is with the name "Western Consort" (D1065) in 69009? I wondered if a "009" connection would use D1009's name, "Western Invader"
Thanks - ooooh, they are cunningLoco was 56065 wasn't it....56065 - D1065
As 69005 "Eastleigh" carries Brunswick (BR loco) green, I'd guess GBRf will look to other livery options. Is this the BEST Class 69 livery so far ? Don't really think Golden Ochre or Desert Sand would stay very clean for long, but what about the shade of green used on some Westerns?
69009 - Probably the best class 69 livery so far.As 69005 "Eastleigh" carries Brunswick (BR loco) green, I'd guess GBRf will look to other livery options.
Yes, two tone green would look good.69009 - Probably the best class 69 livery so far.
AIUI we have seen "BRCW green, BR blue etc but not seen two tone BR green a la class 47s. Yet
Not the best (i like 005's green the most) but i certainly like this.Is this the BEST Class 69 livery so far ? Don't really think Golden Ochre or Desert Sand would stay very clean for long, but what about the shade of green used on some Westerns?
You'll be suggesting Kestrel livery nextLiveries which could suit the 69:
- Black with silver waistband (10000/1, 10201-3, 20003, etc).
- Light green and brown ("Falcon").
- Network Southeast.
- Rail Express Systems (RES).
- Red stripe Railfreight.
- Southern Malachite green + yellow lining.
- 47522 "Doncaster Enterprise" apple green + black/white lining.
- 97561 "Midland Counties 150" maroon + gold lining.
