would be funny if they swapped them all back again
As the 319's are getting scrapped and more 331/0's coming to Yorkshire soon to make 6 cars on Airedale. I doubt that would happen anyway until at least the Transpennine Route Upgrade is completed between Manchester and Leeds, where at that point the electrification on that route should be in place by then.

So in the end Yorkshire has an extra 2 cars per train?
Once the platform extensions are completed on certain stations at Airedale and more 331/0's come over, then yes.

At the moment, Yorkshire has lost three units from the swap due to 12 331/1's going over North West and 9 331/0's coming to Yorkshire. Like I said, more are set to arrive in due course.

All 331 transfers now complete. Liverpool services have done well out of the swap.

Allerton wasted no time in getting 331101 into service. It is on the 0700 Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Airport this morning.

An extra two cars on a handful of trains, eventually. Although AIUI there are no long-term plans for 3-car services to be the norm on certain routes, I don't hold out much hope that it will only happen one in a blue moon. The Bradford to Ilkley and Bradford to Skipton services have already been reduced to hourly, and I expect these will frequently end up being 3-car rather than 4.

Is everything electric to and from Leeds back to pre-COVID frequency, one or two peak extras notwithstanding?

Oh that’s kinda boring wish they would add more carriages onto the 331s
Northern would need to order more carriages for that to happen, and Northern are looking at ordering new trains now so no more carriages will be ordered for the 331s.

Are we expecting more of the 331/0's coming over to Yorkshire within the June 2024 or December 2024 timetable change?

And are the 331/1's staying over in the North West for the forseeable future?

No it only takes 2 units for that. They’ll run on the triangle on what is essentially currently running as a 3 car 331 plus backfill the uplift to an all day half hourly service on the triangle.

oh ok good I don't want the 333s to leave the triangle

When the 33s go on the Doncaster route there will be less 333s on the triangle wont there
