Hi everyone. 1st time posting but have been reading the thread for months.

i applied to be a g2 signaller in march this year, passed my online assessments passed interview had medical and have been given a start date of october and an employee number. i have recently given in my notice at my job as was told to wait till i’ve passed medical etc to be sure. Anyway, i received an email this morning saying due to quality assurance i must re take the online tests and they need to be vigilated.
has anyone else had this?

i know i passed 1st time but im still worried as the dot test was difficult and i just hope i can perform the same, if not and i fail them then i wont have the position. I don’t see why this couldn’t have been checked earlier in the process.

Has anyone else heard of this happening at this stage of the process?

thank you ☺️
They do have quality assurance by NSAR external body. Some areas have invigilated assessments from the start. The areas that don’t can get picked for retests.

Still no outcomes for SW vacancies?
Nothing for me yet, I did email last Tuesday and they said the below. Hopefully this week now!

“I apologise there has been a delay with outcomes, we aim to get these out as soon as possible

Thank you for your patience ”

Same! Good luck to you too, she did say there where 5 positions so fingers crossed for all of us haha
I gather there’s 3 of us on the forum, not sure if anyone else is on here. Did either of you have any preference to which box?

How long have yous been waiting? I had an interview last Wednesday and was told I would hear early this week.
3 weeks Wednesday coming!

3 weeks Thursday! Sounds like you had an interview the week after!

I applied for Burry port box yourself, but she did say you could be placed up to 50 minutes away!

I put Pembrey, but didn’t really have a preference, as distance wise they are all much the same. I’d be happy with anywhere though!

My interview was on the same day as Swanseajack’s. I applied for Ferryside. Just to temper expectations further: as I understand it, NR aren’t afraid to re advertise jobs if they don’t find any suitable candidates. I’d imagine there must have been a lot of interest in these positions and only a small fraction of which would have even landed on this forum as part of their research.

Agreed, I have heard it is quite a hard job to actually get.

Just had the successful phone call! the lady said she was ringing around the rest of the successful candidates, good luck!

Not 100% sure, but it does seem that was from posts on here

Thanks mate, have you heard yet?
Yea I didn’t get it. I’m on a reserve list as the vacancies have been filled. I only had an email, no phone call. So seems unsuccessful get an email, successful get a call.

I’m not too sure yet. I might just leave things progress & see if anything comes up. I’ll keep an eye on the vacancies. What will be, will be.

Is it usuallly phone calls for successful, emails for unsuccessful?
Yeah if you're successful you'll get a phonecall to offer you the job.

If unsuccessful you'll get an email saying you didn't get the job or you'll get an email saying you didn't get the job but they want to put you on the reserve list.

Congratulations. I also accepted a conditional position. Training forecasted to start mid November (providing all checks are okay) possibly in Bristol.

From what I’ve read on here, being on the reserve list can often reap a positive result.

I’m still hopeful, but I also need to be realistic & look to the future. On reading the posts, it does seem that reserves have a fair chance but in the meantime I’ll have to look at other avenues.

Bristol for IST? Weren’t they hoping for Newport? I guess not enough staff to be able to run it. Not too far out though.

Well done on getting to IST.

I’ve just finished mine and I’d offer the following which does echo quite a lot of what you can find if you look back through this forum and served me well.

Don’t underestimate how hard it is but remember they do want you to pass and if you have got this far you are capable of passing.

Keep on top of the revision even from day one a few hours every night will keep you on top of the learning.

There is a revision hub for IST that has most of the presentations that they use so you don’t need to write everything down. Unless this helps you with the learning. So ask for access to the revision hub.

Make the most of sim sessions on both the panel it’s self and the back desk.

Don’t be shy to get up and do sim during lessons when the tutor asks for a volunteer to demonstrate something. You will probably make a mess of it but learn lots and it will be the first time you have done that particular thing so who cares if you get it wrong.

Revise with the group when you can just firing questions at each other in breaks and before and after lectures.

We had Quizlet which has questions for each week provided by one of the tutors at Basingstoke that was a great way to revise. So if they have that at York then make the most of it.

Make sure you take a few hours at least each evening to do something completely different and relax from it. Also I personally never did anything on the Friday evening or on Saturdays which I found effective although I know some others did do revision on Saturdays.

Hang in there if you get a bad day or few days we all had them on our course people thinking of throwing in the towel. But all 9 of us that started passed it and helped each other through it.

Good luck!

I was told Newport is closest and that they will try to get you into a closer IST school, they warned that it doesn't always pan out that way though.
