66312 together with 738 are on the Scunthorpe to Eastleigh rail train. A couple of minutes down at Coleshill due to a late XC service.

Thanks for the insight. Sadly I won't be able to get across to Winchester or Eastleigh for its evening arrival

315 looked perfect as it passed Coleshill so why the visit to Longport? Will 314 be joining it?

There’s far more to it than a coat of paint! They need fitting with UK specific equipment (TPWS/AWS etc) for a start.

Ha ha. I accept that but why carry out mods after you have done an excellent job on the paintwork! It might get scratched!

I guess much of the work at Loughborough centred on altering it to UK loading gauge so it can move by rail, rather than road.

I get the impression that Longport doesn’t have paint facilities… which would explain the 69s being finished elsewhere e.g. Eastleigh.

Yes, locos often get released from Longport to go to Eastleigh for painting

66310 on Scunthorpe to Eastleigh rail diagram. On time at Coleshill.
6O01 seems to be it (66310) for the fot eh Scunthorpe to Eastleigh

Searching RTT also brings up a 6X01 strangely and both are running to the same time but neither show (yet) what the traction is.

Come to Tonbridge pleeze !.

Often means both trains are combined. Loco ID can sometimes be found if 0D01 light engine runs from Doncaster to Scunthorpe.

I have attached a screenshot of that working, which shows 66310. Often the best way of identifying the train loco on Scunthorpe to Eastleigh.
Thanks, I saw that. Puzzles me - is it that normal for 6O01 to not show a loco and so have to deduce from the inbound (which seems a reliable prediction) ?.

I'd say it was unusual for 6O01 to show a train loco. Might be down to two portions. But if it is a light locomotive from Doncaster to Eastleigh, that rarely shows...Then sometimes a light loco does not work Doncaster to Scunthorpe, possibly the same loco off the Eastleigh to Scunthorpe empties is used.

I see, I will try and remember that.

If it conveys IGA wagons loaded with long rails, it will run as an EXLO = 6X01 - minimum curve restriction with this load on IGAs.
Other wagon types loaded with long rails do not have this restriction.

Looks as though 66310 will be on the Scunthorpe to Eastleigh rail diagram again today. It is currently on its way to Scunthorpe from Doncaster light engine, always a good sign!

Correct. Now, as you expected, 66310 is on its way to Eastleigh on to 6X01.

This looks like the favourite diagram for new locos. Is there any news on the remaining new locos entering service?

Now you have worked it out, I'll drop in a wild card. Sometimes the train has a second loco in the consist, often unregistered, say to take a former European 66 to Eastleigh for painting.

66311 with 69011 have today gone light engine to Peterboro from Longport 0E70.

Would that be a step on the way to Eastleigh for painting or for service at Peterboro ?.

66311 earning it's keep on the Bescot to Stud Farm this week. Are any more due to enter service soon?
