Hi Alan,
I completed my 2nd week before Christmas at York and have found it quite intensive but I had no previous railway experience. The tutors are all very friendly and approachable so ask lots of questions!
You get lunch paid for at the school up to the value of £5.50 each day and free coffee. 9 til 4pm Monday to Thursday but expect to spend time outside that practising on the simulator. Usually away by 1200 on Friday to travel home.
You may chop and change hotels from week to week but you get £25 allowance each evening. My group have eaten together and generally discuss train stuff!
I assume you will be doing a track circuit course rather than Absolute block?
Any questions feel free to ask.
