chatting today to a couple of lads who’ve done both patterns and they would dread to go back to 8s. Way more fatigued being on day after day instead of more days off to recover properly.

I’m not sure on the covering letter, but I passed the required benchmark and didn’t get any further a couple of times a few yrs back so I did a bit more on the answers to the 70 questions , I then got to the hiring manager but didn’t get selected. Then next time I really went to town on the 70...

Great post this. Perfectly describes the course. Up to week 6 it’s heads down and the work needs putting in during the evening, but this tends to bring the group together, then get past the week 6 exam and it does ease off and the new stuff fits in with the stuff already embedded. An Saracen is...

You will normally start a week or 2 before sig school there are a few online basic company training bits to do with your apprenticeship, visit to box. Not sure if still happens but we did 2 days in York setting up apprenticeship with Babcock the week before the course started.

there is enough talent in York in the summer ! But they did give us a quiet reminder that the rooms are booked as single occupancy and you are representing NR and to stay off certain websites ( basically tinder) Think the hotel staff watch this side of things for them.

I wouldn’t think NR would have a problem with people showing how keen they are in asking questions to help them get on board anymore than the older signallers offering friendly advice and encouragement on here, it’s reflects on the majority in a good light and tbh in the main once on board it...

I would say it’s maybe the other way around? Only for the fact that When I applied the tests were sent out almost immediately, and then once they had expired and I applied again they were out to me straight away. then they have a look at the applications of those who pass the benchmark hence the...

Maybe both but the hiring manager definitively looks at them to choose which to invite to interview from the ones HR send him/her. So they might send him 15 and he picks say 6 for interview. How HR pick the ones for consideration im not sure .

From what I believe, there are signalling questions on there because the external and internal application forms are the same, Iv also heard that some hiring managers understand and prefer an N/A on a question rather than try and fudge something that you couldn’t have experienced. But I do know...

I don’t think too many find it easy, certainly not the AB course., but most realise early on that you need to work hard to pass. It’s not a given. A guy last summer did weeks 1-6. Failed week 6. Went back to week 1 again and failed week 6 again but think that’s rare. , just keep on top of the...

Good luck with week 3 exam. It’s not too bad , week 4 obs and week 6 exam are the Toughies to get past as I guess that with it costing so much in hotels they don’t wait till wk 11 to see who is going to pass or not. so after wk 6 exam you may get a couple who don’t pass and for those who do the...

Long time thread watcher so firstly thanks for those who have posted, it helped no end sitting down quietly with a couple of mugs of tea and reading the whole thread. ( better get used to upping your tea intake ). When you are applying and then waiting for responses and finely heading to York...
