    Thanks - they don't specify the location thopugh. Hoping to get adjacent to the site and experience the rare thrill of a locomotive on the Harrogate line! I am guessing from data on RTT that itis between Knaresborough and Cattal but some confirmation would be useful

    A big thanks for the lead on 144012 today. Wound up getting excellent shots in the sunshine at both Kirkgate and Westgate. Out on a Metro Rover tomorrow so if anyone can confirm its diagram tomorrow my cup will overflow! Thanks again chaps

    I am aware of the 142's faults - the curve coming off the viaduct at Pannal is one of the most terrifying flange-squeals ever and the toilets lack lustre. Still I always enjoy riding in them. They remind me of all those old first generation DMUs I never appreciated enough...

    We get 153s regularly round the Harrogate loop in formations with 155s. Most of the Huddersfield - Wigan services are 142s whenever I catch them. I don't understand what the problem is with pacers - never found them uncomfortable and they seem to have performed well enough iver the years. The...
