Travelling by Train This Week? Am I mad

Hi. I want to make an overnight trip to Ely. I have a voucher code for a 20% discount for a hotel. The voucher runs until some time in March, however the stay needs to be booked by the end of this month (ie Wednesday). I was thinking of booking this Thursday-Friday, as it's a good price, and the...

Why can't I buy an e-ticket/smartcard ticket from Kemsley to St Albans?

I see. Thanks. I don't suppose there's any way I can manipulate the info I put into the system to get it to spit out a ticket that can be used digitally for this journey? Not sure why they can't spend more time fixing things like this that need fixing, instead of things that don't (I'm looking...

Why can't I buy an e-ticket/smartcard ticket from Kemsley to St Albans?

Just had a little overnight trip to St. Albans, but I was forced to buy a standard ticket from the TVM at the station, instead my preferred method of buying online and having the ticket in my possession before I get there. I noticed there are barcode readers on the barriers at St. Albans, so...

Paupers' menu trotted out for the whole of December by LNER again! No cooked breakfast again! Glad I travelled in October now, even though it would have been nice to have been in York during the Christmas events. https://www.lner.co.uk/globalassets/christmas-2023-first-class-menu.pdf

Why is it so hard to provide a bit of toast?? It's literally just a couple of slices of bread warmed up for a bit!

No. They got rid of toast a few years ago didn't they?

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Had the Full LNER on the 08:00 KGX to YRK on Tuesday. I was actually quite impressed with the amount of food you get given. I guess having black pudding AND mushrooms (as opposed to one or the other as in the past) leads to that. My only complaint would be that it wasn't very warm. My first LNER...

They've shoehorned in yet another even more cut down menu, the "Brunch" menu. Although, it seems there are now two hot options on the Dish menu. Wasn't it one before?

Why are LU staff going on strike over pay when they've only just had a pay rise?

Er yes it does! It’s in the headline and was in the BBC tweet I got it from!

Why are LU staff going on strike over pay when they've only just had a pay rise?

Except they're striking over pay so what's it about then?

Why are LU staff going on strike over pay when they've only just had a pay rise?

As I understand it that was part of an already negotiated long term deal. IMO it's not a good look to have one long running dispute going, and then suddenly out of the blue add new demands to it.

Why have they suddenly added a pay rise to their demands, despite only just having one...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

I have a sweet tooth and it had the spot. I had the same on the journey back (although the stew instead of the fish), and they gave me a teaspoon to eat the tart with, which was a bit odd. I'm sure I got a dessert spoon on the journey out. :s
