I agree.. I'm a bit off that stage yet anyhow. I just want to get a single time table saved (I've picked the Colchester to Clacton/Walton branch from the 1947 LNER timetable) to get other things working.
This is something that I've been having a little play with as a proof of concept to develop my python programming skills..
Currently as you mention the difficult thing is extracting the timetable data from the scanned images. Not to mention actually interpreting which trains are through...
Thanks for your quick reply!
I'm in the process of creating a website which will show "live" positions of trains as they were in different eras, so being able to try and understand origins / destinations of trains is definitely helpful!
Very slightly off topic here, but when looking through timetables such as these (for example Table 19 on the Eastern Region - https://timetableworld.com/image_viewer.php?id=8§ion_id=1832). How would one determine what the origin / destination stations are of a service.
For example, the...
TGV - I like that, looks very clean, how did you trace that? must be pretty high res aerial images?
Am currently researching how I can import this data into my database on my web server..
Thats coming on another layer...
What do you guys think about me putting this into a flash application, allowing you to click on the stations, which brings up information about said station along with a track plan? would that be an idea?

My programming expertise probably wouldn't stretch far enough for...
There is now a small sample on the map page... or here if this works:

Northern Ireland could be a possibility... how extensive is the network there?
Like i mentioned in my previous post, I think it would be far too much of a challenge in both my mental power and computation power for the web, it would need something offline which is outside of my capability... I'll settle for a shortest mileage between two stations.
To start with it will be using every route that currently exists. However in the future it could possibly expand to include pax only routes and possible routes for ticketing purposes... but that is out of my realm for now and i believe it may be a bit too much for online application.
