New over-60s Oyster - can I use it now?

When I received my 60+ Oyster I phoned TfL to confirm that I could in fact use it immediately even though I was 10 days short of my 60th birthday. They said that I could and that it was valid from the date it was issued (which was a couple of days before I received it in the post).

New trains - could they have tinted windows?

Bit late to this but: Deltics. As correctly stated above the ETH came from the main generator and the voltage used to fluctuate which caused the MA trips. 47401-420. ETH came from a DC auxiliary generator (not the main generator) and the supply voltage would drop too low at low engine revs...

    Infill electrification - definition

All 387s are dual voltage already so if Didcot - New St and Reading - Basingstoke were done then a 387 could conceivably run all the way from Manchester to Bournemouth

Extent of Quadruple Track from London termini

If you include the two running lines that go down through Stewarts Lane then you've got 5 between Factory Jn and Battersea Pier

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

It was a phantom issue. After an investigation the problem was traced to issues with the methodology and equipment used to measure the exhaust performance. Nothing was changed on the units.

SWR: Guards/RMT Industrial Action. Next strike dates: 30/31 August, 1/2 September 2019

The North Downs line is not in Grayling's constituency at any point. It's about 3 miles away at its closest point around Betchworth. So as I said originally GWR do not operate any trains through Grayling's constituency.

    Desiro Ride quality

The 450s and 444s did have bogie mods done a few years ago because they were causing excessive track damage. There was a rumour a few months ago that more mods were being considered. The rough riding might well be the bad state of the track but the units themselves are contributing to that.

GWR don't run any services through Grayling's constituency.

Photos of diesel hauled mk4 set?

I've seen a picture somewhere of a 47 hauled MkIV set on the MML. Edit. Found it: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tunnel_one/13190471845/

Why should wiring Standedge tunnel be "difficult?"

Well when you posted the £2bn stuff you quoted my post about Standedge Tunnel (which based on its title is what the thread is supposed to be about) so I therefore assumed that's what you were talking about. I must send my mind reading module off for an overhaul.

Why should wiring Standedge tunnel be "difficult?"

If someone says that the final price for electrifying a 3 mile tunnel is going to be £2bn then they either don't want to do the job, or they are totally and utterly incompetent, or both

Why should wiring Standedge tunnel be "difficult?"

It's basically just an excuse. Yes tunnels are more difficult than plain open line but they are not especially difficult per se. Viable solutions have been found for every tunnel on all of the electrified routes done previously and a viable solution exists for Standedge. The DfT just doesn't...

Whats the problem with ALSTOM ?

No. This is a very common misconception but they differ significantly below the solebar.

ERTMS / ETCS on WAML London - Cambridge

Short answer is no-one knows. The only reasonable certainty is that whatever date is being touted by NR for anything will probably move to the right.
