How long does it take for the actual plans to be published?
The Scottish CP7 doc seems pretty light on what will actually be done.
There's a doc I read a few years ago (it may be the 2016 Scottish Route Study, but I thought it was more recent) that detailed the plans for each line. If it is...
Why do you say that? I think it looks great, what are they removing of any significance? All I can see is the two ramps.
I wish they could build it tomorrow
Sorry, I meant Dunfermline. Map makes it look like there's track from Alloa to Dunfermline?
Yeah, there's nothing explicitly there about the Almond Chord, you'd just have to imagine for the cost of electrifying it would be worth building the chord at the same time. I expect an the electrified...
The map makes it look like there's already track between Alloa and Kincardine, is that right?
Exciting to see the Almond Chord, presumably if it's being electrified then they're pretty much have to build the chord?
Isn't the South Sub already planned for Network Rail CP6 to allow Class 385's...
Absolutely in that context, but not so much in encouraging people out of cars.
There are four electrified lines that run between Edinburgh and Glasgow, with the ability to increase capacity further (by Almond Chord, adding passing trackets, etc) and to increase the number of trains via Falkirk...
It's a very expensive line, as many intercity journeys are. Rail travel - where capacity allows - should be priced to allow a modal shift from cars and planes.
It's cheaper to drive between Glasgow & Edinburgh and park all day in the city centre than it is to get the train.
Now EGIP is almost...
Am I correct in thinking that both of the Calton tunnels are single track?
I saw a post earlier in this thread hinting that one tunnel might be double tracked (CP6?), could both tunnels handle double tracking? Presumably there'd be a benefit in doing it (resilience, etc).
Presumably these...
I've two questions about the work being done at Kings Cross:
Is it possible and would there be a benefit in reopening/reusing the 3rd Copenhagen Tunnel too?
Has this work replaced the partial closure (link below) due to start in early 2020...
Does anyone know where I could find a circa 2013 Scotrail Edinburgh > Glasgow timetable, I've had a good look online and can't see anything. Would be interesting to compare journey times (and also Edinburgh > Dunblane circa 2009).
Has there ever been any discussion of a station at Kirkliston if the Almond Chord is built? Seems like it'd be a bit of a no brainer, and fairly easy to do.
