    To Heathrow via National Rail?

If taking the tube to Heathrow then, a zone 1-3 Travelcard on an Oyster would need money added to it, correct? Where would I find that amount? Thanks.

    To Heathrow via National Rail?

Sorry for the delay in responding. We will have a lot of luggage, so I'd like to avoid stairs and long walks. This will be on a Sunday morning, so hopefully nothing will be too crowded. Sure, it would be nice to be aboveground, but not if it adds hours to the trip. I have a decent...

    To Heathrow via National Rail?

Is there a practical route from Greenwich or Lewisham to Heathrow that uses only National Rail (not the Underground)?

    Newbury to Docklands

What would be easier with luggage -- Lewisham National Rail to Lewisham DLR or Greenwich National Rail to Greenwich DLR? Thanks.

    Visitors Oyster Card

So if we arrive in London at the Waterloo National Rail station, we should just go downstairs to the Waterloo Underground station and purchase our Travelcards at a ticket window and they will be issued to us on Oyster cards, is that correct? Thanks.

    Visitors Oyster Card

We will be in London for 5 days, so it appears the 7-day travelcard (on an Oyster card)will be best for us, but I have a few questions: 1. If we buy a zone 1-2 travelcard and go into zone 3, do we just add money to the card before departing and it automatically charges the extension fare...

    Visitors Oyster Card

I understand visitors from overseas who buy regular Oyster cards can get the 5-pound deposit refunded by turning in their cards when they leave London, but do they also get any remaining balance refunded? And can the cards be turned in at London train stations (like Paddington) or just at...

    Llandudno to Wolverhampton

Thanks to all for your good advice. I am in the U.S., so cannot purchase Advance tickets at a station. Interesting that seat reservations can be made with online Advance tickets on Cross Country but not ATW; aren't they owned by the same company?

    Llandudno to Wolverhampton

Yes, they did go back down to 12 pounds (and sorry about my inability to multiply 12 times 3!). I'm willing to pay the extra 20 pounds each for Anytime tickets if that's necessary to keep us from being split up for three hours, but is there any way of estimating how full this train will be...

    Llandudno to Wolverhampton

The ATW direct trains are indeed much less expensive. An Advance ticket is 24 pounds for three people (vs. 95 pounds), but we would again face the prospect of no seat reservation with ATW Advance tickets. How full is a 10:25 train likely to be on July 17 (a Tuesday)?

    Mudchute to Canterbury

I like the idea of DLR to Stratford and then the high-speed to Canterbury since there's just the one connection. I can't tell from the maps -- does the DLR have its own station at Stratford, or does it use Stratford Regional? It appears it would be about a 10-minute walk from Stratford DLR to...

    Mudchute to Canterbury

Thanks for all of your good advice this week. I think we have one more question for this forum. We are planning a day trip from Mudchute on the DLR to Canterbury on July 19. The Journey Planner takes us to Lewisham on the DLR, then Southeastern to London Bridge and Canterbury West. The DLR...

    Llandudno to Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton to Reading is an Advance ticket.

    Llandudno to Wolverhampton

At Wolverhampton, we transfer to a Cross Country train to Reading (ticket already purchased). Is 31 minutes a reasonably safe connecting time at Wolverhampton from ATW to Cross Country?

    Mudchute to Heathrow

So to get to Paddington to pick up Heathrow Connect or Express, maybe take the DLR to Tower Gateway and then the Circle Line to Paddington? This will be Sunday morning, July 22, with luggage. Thank you.
