I asked the same question a few years back when I saw the unit at Exeter. No-one confirmed 100% but since then I have seen all the other 159s and they all had their correct centre cars so logically although it's unnumbered it is 58728.

In case anyone is interested the Chesters today were: 777006, 007, 014, 017, 018 & 024. Generally they seemed to run without any issues although I was on 777018 coming back from Hamilton Square at 14.16 (12 late) but it went non stop from Birkenhead Central to Hooton and so finished up just 2...

I am just about to head off on the long journey up to Merseyside today to try and see my last five 507’s. I will start at Southport & get a 507 (hopefully) into Liverpool. Can anyone advise where the following 5 units are working / stabled today – Any help gratefully received...
Well, I visited today and all 3 are still on site - They must have been there around a month now. I imagine they will be drafted into service fairly soon. Thanks again to all those who helped.
