Basically - you can't feel whats going on with the train in a simulator because they're all "fixed" simulators (i.e the cab doesn't move). It's all very well the instructor saying "now we're going to experience wheelslide" but watching the brake gauge bouncing in the sim means nothing to me...

My advice would be to phone HR immediately - find out why you were rejected (they should be able to tell you instantly) - and then re-apply immediately, with the appropriate alterations and/or emphasis added to your application to counter those issues. That's exactly what I did a couple of years...
Not at Scotrail it's not... Leave will not be allowed during the Rules/Traction/Training train phases of your course, but can be arranged by agreement with your DTM/DI once you are out accumulating your hours.
It does help if you are able to take the same leave as your DI, but it's not...
