  • Hi Ian, I noticed you are based at Motherwell, can you tell me which routes drivers based at Motherwell do?
    Thanks.
Hi ianthescot, I have applied to first scotrail for the position of trainee train driver and just done the first part of my test today and will find out if I have done enough to pass that part of the selection process in a couple of days. If I have been lucky enough to pass this part of the process would you be willing to answer a couple of questions for me. Sandra Cymber said if you get past this part it is important to know your stuff for the interview that follows as alot of people let themselves down at the interview. We got told at the end that the jobs are based at motherwell and yoker
Ian- Saw with interest that you have been with Scotrail for 3 yrs or so. I am seriously considering train driving as a mature (41) career change. Hoping you may be able to offer advice on my next step to who/where to contact. I live in West Lothian.
Hi Hiall, sorry for the delay, I didn't see your message
I hope everything went OK for you though?

The depot interview is fairly straight forward and is more focussed on doing the job rather than the formal interview which is on what type of person you are, previous experience etc.

Let me know how you got on and if there is anything I can help with let me know (and I'll look out for messages in the future ;))

    Regards,
    Ian

I got the job my friend. Now based in Perth.
Hi there I was wondering if you could help me. I have just managed to pass the assesment centre with First Scotrail and I now have a depot interview. Do you know the type of questions they will ask on top of your essay questions. Thanks for taking your time out to read this.
