As mentioned above, the Severn Valley is running tomorrow with 2 steam (7714 and 75069) and 1 diesel (40106) in use.

It should be back for the christmas services so I believe sometime in November.

Mainline maybe, not necessarily the case with heritage railways. In fact, a quite a few drivers I know are of the opinion that stopping short and then drawing forward is more likely to cause problems than not with steam.
