Well assuming your laptop doesn't have the number pad printed onto the right side of the keyboard (on mine 4 is u, 5 is i, 6 is o etc), you will have to buy a separate number pad that plugs into the usb port.
I got myself a very snazzy vaio laptop.... Pentium M 1.86GHz, 1024mb memory, 256 Radeon Mobility X600 graphics card. Oh and a huuuge 17'' X-black widescreen, perfect for bve!
And yeh our other pc is the same spec as yours, i'm lucky to get over 10fps on that and totally pointless to try to...
You need to consider the processor too. If it's a Celeron or equivalent, you can forget about any kind of improvement im afraid. Unless it's a Pentium or equivalent, you won't get anything above 15-20 fps....
Thanks for all your help guys but by fiddling around myself I've managed to fix it. Turns out BVE doesn't like hardware acceleration on the sound card, so I just turned that off and now it works like a treat!! Finally, decent framerates!!
