Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Think it was 25 percent. Which is Stalybridge to Manchester and Chrich Fenton to York.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Wasn’t two thirds of the money committed. This would be great if it’s new money

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I have been told Deighton closure may last longer than initially thought.

    Future of TransPennine Express?

Or that nationalisation freed up the funds to negotiate with trade unions, to make the then government’s decision look like the right one, when it wasn’t allowed under First Group… The PR is DFTO trying to showcase nationalisation works. There are still many issues at TPE, some of which has...

Crowd Management at Liverpool Lime Street after Parade

That’s not the fault of the operators. The more i hear, the more it looks like both Liverpool FC and the council grossly underestimated numbers for the parade and the station and previous processes/staffing levels couldn’t cope with the volume of people all at once.

Crowd Management at Liverpool Lime Street after Parade

It wasn’t. Engineering work was cancelled last minute due to Radio 1 big weekend. Then Liverpool FC should pay. Where’s their responsibility? Surely the club and council should be providing the railway with anticipated numbers. Or if it becomes too big - but limiting what is done.

TPE Castleford/Normanton/Wakefield - Odd (surplus to requirement?) rail replacement bus services today

6 car operations require the conductors the rear cab. As has been mentioned, Normanton can only just fit three cars on. TPE are strengthening those services (every two hours) due to engineering work so York - Manchester flows don’t go through Leeds which is down to 2tph. In reality, those...

Crowd Management at Liverpool Lime Street after Parade

Easy to blame the railway but perhaps people should be looking at the council for allowing multiple big events to be held in the city on the same weekend? There’s only so many trains that can be released to strengthen services. You can’t force people to work their non contracted days even if...

    Nationalisation and station closures

Indeed, station openings in the last two decades have been delivered by the nationalised Network Rail.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

That’s being done when the station is down to only 3 platforms. the new footbridge is going to be at the Far Eastern end of the station

    Future of TransPennine Express?

Nope. More 802s will be subbing for 397s apparently so expect more 3 car 185s on hull services

Paper Timetables - do we still need them?

By and large, no. TVMs provide this information nowadays as well as apps etc. they’re always more likely to be up to date than printed timetables too, especially when engineering work is in play. There will always be exceptions and we shouldn’t fully digitise. But the cost doesn’t add up for...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

A loop that hasn’t been used in donkeys years, isn’t long enough for the freight that will be used in coming years and marsden to Huddersfield is being three tracked. Not odd at all.

    TPE operating a Northern service?

Can’t believe there are people complaining that the railway is being passenger focused and trying to drag union issues into it. Especially when said unions would’ve cleared it. Amazing what a joined up railway can do isn’t it.
