    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

That reminds me of the miners' strike in 1974. The incoming Labour government gave the miners all they wanted, and look what happened to inflation! I despise the present Tory government, but they are not wrong about everything. The railways are massively subsidised by the taxpayer (this has...

Heritage Railways' Policies on Lineside Photographers in Hi-Vis

Totally agree. A lot of rather conceited, pretentious types.

Heritage Railways' Policies on Lineside Photographers in Hi-Vis

There are too many orange jackets. They seem to be a badge of machismo, worn even by platform staff.

Report, trip to Braintree from Birmingham for work

There are a lot of railway staff who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the customers.

Report, trip to Braintree from Birmingham for work

Avanti are dreadful. I'd far rather a slightly longer journey on Chiltern, which at least is more civilised and reliable.

    Penalty fare disability. OCD

Let's face it - there are a lot of railway staff who should not be allowed anywhere near the customers. In most jobs, someone behaving in the way that the RPI did would be summarily dismissed, and rightly so. Any chance of that happening in this case? Don't make me laugh.

Disposing of old railway books and hornby magazines

I find it hard to even give magazines away. Nobody, even heritage railway shops, seems to want them.

    Epping Ongar Railway

Yes, a very pleasant railway. I hope that the class 205 d.e.m.u. will be working again, soon. For some reason, I feel that it looks just right there. No logic to that; just me! Having looked at the website, I see that the 205 is down to reappear at the late September diesel gala. Now...

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

This has the hallmark of sensible pragmatism. Much needed when you get two parties getting entrenched as has been happening.

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

Well, let us rejoice that steam is coming back on the West Highland Extension.

Michael Portillo's railway programme Geat British Railway journeys.

Perhaps Peartree is a request stop, and Mr Portillo requested that the train should stop? I like his programmes because they put the railway into context.

No trains to call at Altnabreac for the foreseeable future

Again, the nail has been hit accurately on the head!

No trains to call at Altnabreac for the foreseeable future

I hear the sound of hammer hitting nail on the head! I find it outrageous that a private individual can decide to shut down a station because they don't like people using it; even Dr Beeching didn't manage to close Altnabreac. It matters not a jot or tittle that Altnabreac is (or rather was)...

No trains to call at Altnabreac for the foreseeable future

You may as well ask how the police keep order on a Saturday night!

No trains to call at Altnabreac for the foreseeable future

Perhaps Network Rail/ Scotrail just need to grow a pair. It is ridiculous how aggressive individuals get away with so much in this pathetic country.
