Sorry you obviously know how the depot is going to work. I’ll just ask my colleague to scrap all of their 3 years of planning and pass it on to the forum experts shall I?
I shall say no more on this depot or indeed any other plans for Northern’s future (and it is pretty exciting stuff moving at...
The plan we’ve got is a bit more detailed than the one shown in the diagram. For a start it doesn’t show the headshunt which is able to stable a 6 car set.
Well that’s the official unit plan for when it opens. I trust the person implicitly who has done the detailed work on this (since the start of the planning for this around 3 years ago).
They will go there for the wheel lathe but it isn’t in the LTP plan as you don’t need a unit up there every...
Sorry I misread that one as I was thinking of the stabling road lengths at the time.
I’ve just been looking at the plans on our system and the plan is for 12 units to stable overnight at Shipley TCC (6x3 car, 6x4 car). There is room for more if required but it’s unnecessary the vast majority of...
But are you Lumo’s target market?
The whole idea of it is choice. You choose which suits you best.
If you want first class with at seat meal service you choose LNER.
If you want a low price and don’t care about a buffet or meal then you choose Lumo.
I wish they’d get their facts right. It wasn’t anywhere near that many units. They’ve stated 25 electric units for a start which is the size of the full east fleet. 333004 hasn’t been anywhere near Skipton in over a month as it’s under repair at NL!
More than 8 will be able to be stabled there. Bear in mind the 331’s will be 3 car units (for instance 2 x 331’s will fit on a shed road).
The BDQ units will almost certainly stable on the depot whilst the Ilkley units could, although if they remain stabled at Ilkley for operational reasons...
It’s not just being built to remove that train though. East Leeds is congested all day and especially so at the start and the end of the day when there are multiple moves on and off depot mixed in with passenger services.
By building a dedicated EMU depot in the centre of the routes that these...
Scheduled maintenance is still regularly required as well as stabling, CET emptying, external washing, interior cleaning, unscheduled repairs etc….
Shipley needs to be built due to the Neville Hill TRU works closure and an EMU depot costs far more than stabling sidings for DMU’s. As Shipley is...
Any change in formation would be STP’d in the units each week which are planned weeks in advance. Ad hoc on the day weather forecast plays no role in this whatsoever and hasn’t in the last 36 years I’ve been on the railway.
There is less 4 car working off season now to save fuel/unit miles as...
