Just as an addition, I left the mob having done 13 yrs and started signalling school age 34. The oldest at my course was 46,the youngest only 28 so don't think you're ever too old to have a good quality second career!

Hi Nick, I'm also a very recent SL and finding my feet in the 'outside' world after 30+ years in the mob (crab). With a gold-plated pension I'm in the fortunate position of being selective - had temp job in a call centre while on terminal, quickly realised that anything to do with retail or front line customer service was not for me. A valuable lesson to learn as up til then I'd been focussing on team leader roles in retail management! So I've gone back to public organisations ! I'm far too old and grumpy to have a ditsy 20-something ordering me about.

Very best of luck, Nick, let me know how you get on! It's a good job I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket, otherwise I might have taken my rejection by NR personally - interview with the Police tomorrow and another next Tues and waiting for the outcome of two previous ones.
