    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

Yes, getting out of P10 to Chester should be simple. Don’t think Chester itself is that busy on a Sunday, and there was very little else going along the coast. I’m sure someone more knowledgeable will have the reason for this.

    TFW 2024 Timetable consultation.

At the other end of Wales travelling Sunday 14 from Cardiff to Bangor the 0940 arrives Crewe 1227, and the advertised connection is about an hour later. BUT at 1227 there is a train leaving P10 for Bangor, which then sits 10 minutes at Chester. Why on earth could it not leave Crewe that 10...

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Three car 197 on Friday Holyhead to Llanelli (1109 out of Bangor) lost 36 minutes at Chester, up to 55 by Cardiff and seemingly cancelled beyond Swansea. Seems there was an engine fault - is this a common problem? There didn’t seem to be any trouble until the reversal at Chester. Certainly...

Ex LNER (and Grand Central) Mark 4 sets for TfW

Do you know if that means a return to more Holyhead workings too? I miss my lunches travelling to Cardiff!

Avanti West Coast Withdraws Shrewsbury Service From June 2024

Same on Monday. They cancelled the 1302 Euston to Chester (and again today apparently) and the 1202 didn’t get further than Crewe as they didn’t have a driver. At least we got delay repay sorted within 3 days though.

    Quick help please Penmaenmawr

Often you don’t get any announcements either at Chester or on the train, until the guard comes round, that you need to be in the front 2 coaches of a four car for stations beyond Llandudno Junction. And the information display at Colwyn Bay on Monday actually showed the rear two as going on, to...

    Newport island platform

Thanks, there never seems to be any work going on, although admittedly that is an impression gleaned from passing through rather than time spent on the platform.

    Newport island platform

The island platform buildings at Newport have looked like a building site with hoardings and scaffolding since the electrification work began years ago now. Does anyone know what they are doing, and when, or if, the work will ever be finished?

CAF Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

IV95 was a 150 today, and the trolley came off at Chester. Uncomfortable, noisy and draughty, but at least not a cancellation. To think that a year ago I was on the same train sitting in first!

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

Not sure how long this has been in operation as I have not been to Cardiff for about 6 months, but platform 2 seems to have become bi-directional now. At least one Nottingham arrived and departed from it yesterday. Presumably this will help some of the congestion problems.

    TfW punctuality

Well! Last night (1523) we were 5 minutes late leaving Cardiff due to a red, and this had increased to 15 by the time we got to Chester, where we were booted out onto another unit which then got delayed again further at Fflint by a level crossing failure or signal failure (heard both) at...
